The Political Insider’s Top 5 Stories of 2018

President Trump’s second year in office has been a series of peaks and valleys, with fast-paced major news stories coming in almost on the daily. So much so, that one could easily be forgiven if they forgot some of the top stories in 2018.

That’s where we come into play, creating this handy list of the top 5 political stories from this past year.

Some are obvious major reports, and some have since been forgotten by a compliant media that doesn’t want to cover stories detrimental to the Democrat Party.

Some are expected, and some are downright wild.

Without further delay, here are those top stories from 2018 …

1. Brett Kavanaugh Confirmed to the Supreme Court

Brett Michael Kavanaugh was nominated by President Trump and confirmed to the Supreme Court, taking the oath of office on October 6, 2018.

The hearings were hands-down the political story of the year, as the Trump resistance effort morphed from a political opposition party to a downright evil group of people willing to destroy a man’s life for their professional gain.

They launched everything they could at Justice Kavanaugh – lies, cheating, deception, and downright criminal smears by the Democrat Party – putting their partisan ways on full display before the American people.

It was such a sad display that it reinvigorated the career of Lindsey Graham (R-SC) as a staunch conservative hero and decimated the presidential hopes of Cory Booker (D-NJ) who embarrassed himself with his ‘Spartacus‘ stand. The Kavanaugh fight likely helped Republicans stem the tide of the much-ballyhooed blue wave in November.

2. George H.W. Bush and Barbara Bush passed away

Former First Lady Barbara Bush passed away in April, and President George H.W. Bush passed just months later on November 30th.

Naturally, liberals treated both significant events with the respect and dignity afforded a former First Couple. Well, not exactly.

Hillary Clinton took the occasion of President Bush’s passing to snub the man who defeated her in 2016, eschewing the example of friendship set by her husband and the man they were honoring that day.

Meanwhile, a professor at Fresno (California) State University took the time to bash Mrs. Bush upon her passing stating, “I’m happy the witch is dead and I can’t wait for the rest of her family to fall to their demise.”

Unlike these liberals, H.W. was revealed to have had God and the Almighty’s role for him on this planet shape the man he would later become.

And we also had the opportunity to look back on his career, which included this famous incident in which he smacked down fake news reporter Dan Rather back in the day.

3. Liberals attack Barron Trump, Melania fights back

The left unceasingly attacked Barron Trump in 2018.

Recall, if you will, actor Peter Fonda threatening to kidnap Barron Trump and “put him in a cage with pedophiles.”

Or Rosie O’Donnell and acclaimed Hollywood director Danny Zuker teaming up on social media to mock Barron’s reaction to Kathy Griffin’s beheading gag.

Then there was the time former Jeopardy champion Ken Jennings mocked the First Son for being upset over Griffin’s stunt.

In the case of Fonda, his vile threat was enough to cause First Lady Melania Trump’s office to notify the Secret Service.

4. 2018 – the year of Democrat violence

2018 will, without a doubt, be a year remembered for the increasingly violent rhetoric promoted by Democrat lawmakers, resulting in constant harassment and attacks of Republicans in public and private.

In early November, a group of Antifa thugs swarmed the home of Fox News host Tucker Carlson while his wife was inside.

“Each night you remind us that we are not safe,” the group, Smash Racism DC, wrote on social media. “Tonight, we remind you that you are not safe either.”

This was the same mob that chased Senator Ted Cruz and his wife out of a restaurant in DC.

Other incidents include:

The higher echelon of the Democrat Party encouraged this kind of violence throughout 2018, with Maxine Waters and Cory Booker practically making harassment part of their platform.

Two-time failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton was even given an opportunity to calm down the rhetoric, but she declined saying “give me a break!”

Some of these liberal protesters were captured on video repeatedly threatening violence against President Trump, with one even saying “I would murder him.”

5. John Kerry in violation of the Logan Act

This one has flown under the radar a bit, odd considering the Democrats obsession with a foreign government supposedly affecting an election.

On two different occasions, John Kerry, former candidate for President of the United States and former Secretary of State, undermined the current President by telling a foreign government to ignore Trump and listen instead to him.

An Israeli newspaper in January reported that Kerry had spoken to leaders within the Palestinian Authority and told them to disregard the President’s move formally recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

In September, Kerry admitted in an interview to conducting rogue diplomacy with a top Iranian official, unauthorized by the government, to salvage Barack Obama’s nuclear deal.

Kerry’s actions were both in violation of the Logan Act, which states:

“Any citizen of the United States … who, without authority of the United States … carries on any correspondence or intercourse with any foreign government or any officer or agent thereof, with intent to influence the measures or conduct of any foreign government … shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.”

And there you have it, a refresher list that widely covers the news involving our nation and the Trump administration from this past year.
