Senator John Cornyn, the Senate Republican whip, has confirmed that Trump will sign a short-term spending deal to avert a government shutdown. The spending deal will contain no money for his proposed border wall.

This morning, without any direction from the White House, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell introduced a short-term spending measure that would keep the government open through the Friday shutdown deadline. This spending deal would expire in February, setting up a brand new spending fight when Nancy Pelosi is, presumably, the Speaker of the House. Earlier this week, the President indicated he was malleable on his border-wall funding request. (RELATED: Sarah Sanders Confirms Trump W.H. Ready to Concede On the Border Wall.) However, up until this point, the White House hasn’t indicated if it supports the McConnell measure.
But we’re just getting word that the President is, in fact, willing to sign the short-term deal. Wall Street Journal reporter Kristina L. Peterson confirms that John Cornyn, the number-two Republican in the Senate, just confirmed that Trump is willing to sign the deal. And he knows because he just had lunch with Vice President Pence, who, more than anyone, likely knows where the President is at on the issue.

What an absolute joke. In truth, there’s only so much Trump can do when it comes to getting Congress to pass new spending initiatives. Mitch McConnell and the rest of the Senate Republicans just told voters their voices and votes don’t matter.

Building the wall will require $$$ and Trump can’t, by himself, spend a single penny of the government’s money. Only the Congress can do that, and it’s full of Democrats and spineless, do-nothing Republicans. Still, Trump does keep making loud promises about what he’s going to do (“crush” the Democrats) and that makes him look bad, even weak, when he then caves. Does he know this? It’s hard to believe he doesn’t, so why does he keep doing it? Search me. Only Trump knows the answer to that conundrum.
It is very hard to believe that President Trump caved completely on his demands for the border wall after all of the fuss he made over it on camera with Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi..Why did he ever bring it up if he was going to cower on it later? If President Trump fails to get the border wall built someway or another he will be a one term President no matter what else he might accomplish in the next two years..He promised the people a border wall and that was a big reason in his getting elected was they wanted him to build that border wall to protect our southern border and our country..By bowing out of this rant for the border wall he may never get another shot at getting it done and the people will be losing interest in his Presidency and think of him as a failure because he didn’t produce the border wall as he campaigned on that he would. He has fulfilled most of his campaign promises to date but the cajone that he was elected because of he has failed at producing it which if it remains that way he will be just a one term President.. Even now after caving into the Democrats so easily over the border wall after getting all of his followers up in a sweat that he was going to really get tough on the Democrats and push them into funding the border wall and then let the air out of his big demand of shutting down the government will cause him to lose ground with his followers too. It appears now that the Democrats have got the President where the hair is short and for him and his followers to continue to win win win like he told them they would has fallen through as well now too. After the Democrats take over the House in January President Trump will really be in for a dog fight to get anything approved that pertains to the purse strings being loosened up for the border wall especially..I for one am very disappointed in our President at this time concerning the border wall…Maybe he has something better in the back of his mind to still get the border wall built that just hasn’t surfaced yet..However for now until I and or the American people who voted for him see continued reason to believe in him to get the border wall built I believe that the Presidents ratings will take a major hit because of his backing down and giving in to the Democrats so easily without any compensation at all..I will sit in limbo for a while to see what transpires from this point on with the President. Hopefully he has other plans that we aren’t privy to know about yet..I just can’t bring myself to believe that he has caved and end of story…America is waiting with baited breath on his next move…
