The Trump White House has announced it will end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which was made law through executive action under President Obama. The announcement will be made official this afternoon.
The program allowed illegal immigrants who came to the country as children to stay. And while Trump will end the program, he will allow some of the so-called “DREAMers” to remain in America.
This is a bombshell announcement. President Trump has publicly struggled with this issue. On one hand, he recognizes the need for compassion. On the other, he sees that a program like DACA needs to be passed into law by Congress – it can’t be unilaterally enacted the way Obama did it.
A compassionate country follows the rule of law. In this case, the rule of law won.

Many businesses warned President Trump to not go through with this initiative. They cited a drop in the number of qualified employees for positions. One study even estimated that 700,000 positions could be left empty thanks to DACA’s repeal. But, in my opinion, that just leaves 700,000 positions to be filled by native-born Americans.
Whatever its ultimate effect, you can be sure the left is going to go berserk over this policy. Even though it’s likely unconstitutional, liberals will paint Trump into a living monster, much as they have over the past eight months.

The President did the right thing. This was an illegal law Obama bypassed Congress to sign into law. It should never have been recognized. Just like the Supreme court, their ruling is only an opinion and it takes Congress to OK it and put it into effect.
Those 700,000 will & should be filled by the multitude of unemployed native born citizens living in this country. This act by Trump won’t hurt our country at all, it will likely help it. Senator Merkley you are totally off base here! Trump is not heartless & will allow some to stay but millions of immigrants have come here illegally in the past with the intent to have children immediately (most on government assistance to have them) simply to circumvent the process & be allowed to stay. Frankly, I’m tired of my hard earned taxpayer money going to immigrants rather than helping the native born & naturalized citizens here in America & I’m sure I’m not alone in my feelings!

Thank you for explaining this Marilyn! Obama probably intended it more to help Muslim’s than anyone else but as usual he circumvented Congress & enacted many illegal laws. Although it may have been hard for him, my hat’s off to Trump for putting an end to this!
When we have homeless people on the streets holding up signs will work for food. Tells you something THAT PERSON IS NOT AFRAID TO WORK. There is a problem with a homeless American Vet’s need medical care and shelter and the illegals having shelter food and medical care and a Socal Security check, and to top that a tax income checks in the thousands.
Crazy. 700,000 jobs will go unfilled if DACA is ended? So now we want open borders and repeal of the child labor laws? Talk about diversity. Multiple different laws for multiple people, multiple levels of wealth, now even multiple constitutions some first world and some third world, is this what the Left seeks or just good old-fashioned anarchy.
