It was reported this afternoon that Sara Armstrong, the chief of staff for the Republican National Committee, resigned from her post. She is expected to take a position at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, a Republican-friendly trade organization located just blocks from the White House.
Armstrong is the latest departure from the RNC. In recent weeks, the Republican organization has shed numerous employees as it restructures following President Trump’s impressive November victory. Via Politico:
Armstrong is the sixth staffer to leave the RNC in just over the month. A handful of aides in the committees data department have left recently amid a change in departmental leadership.
Many wished Sara well over Twitter:

This is a curious move. Sara helped oversee planning for President Trump’s inauguration. Prior to that, she led the 2016 Republican National Convention, where Donald Trump accepted the GOP nomination for president.
With so much effort dedicated to the president, it’s hard to figure out what to make of this decision. Is the RNC purging pro-Trump staffers? Is the Republican establishment quietly preparing to separate their candidates from President Trump in the 2018 midterms? Is the U.S. Chamber of Commerce staffing up for a big push on tax reform?
So many questions, but not much information.
What do you think of this move? Is it good for President Trump? Are elite Republicans preparing to disassociate themselves from Trump? Tell us your thoughts below and share this big news over Facebook and Twitter!
