Chris Wallace Rips President Donald Trump: ‘He Has Done Everything He Can to Undercut the Media’

By David Kamioner | December 13, 2019

Called out numerous times in the past for what many have observed is a clear bias against this president, Chris Wallace of Fox News left nothing to the imagination regarding his feelings about President Donald Trump this week at a media function in Washington, D.C.

“I believe that President Trump is engaged in the most direct sustained assault on freedom of the press in our history,” said Wallace at The Newseum during a press event on Wednesday night.

“He has done everything he can to undercut the media, to try and delegitimize us,” added Wallace, “and I think his purpose is clear: to raise doubts when we report critically about him and his administration that we can be trusted.”

The Newseum, for anyone who has not been there, is mostly a place where people spend their hard-earned money to hear how wonderful the press is — from the press.

There are other locations like this in the nation’s capital, to be sure, but none have the sheer sense of petulant entitlement that The Newseum does, in this analyst’s view.

It’s also a convenient podium from which to attack political enemies.

That’s what Wallace did on Wednesday evening — much to the happiness of the cocktail and canapé-stuffed fellow scribes in attendance, apparently, who gave him rapturous applause, as many outlets reported.

They were perhaps also chomping at the bit in jealousy that Wallace was getting more attention than they were at that moment.

Fox News’ Wallace seems to believe that he and his fellow journos are exempt from the consequences of what they write and say. President Trump never has called for anything even approaching a quashing of the freedom of the press.

What he has called for is a close examination of how the biased and generally hard-Left major media distort and manipulate information in this nation to benefit the political agenda of the Democrats and their leftist allies.

But Wallace believes he and his pals should be immune from that. Why?

He doesn’t give a reason.

He just makes a bogeyman out of the president — and then expects the Pavlovian audience to react in the proper fashion.

They did not disappoint. For they knew that he was attacking the president for them as well, lest average, everyday Americans find out how they are hoodwinked on a daily basis by the likes of the major American media.

Wallace said President Trump “has done everything he can to undercut the media.”

No — Wallace and his ilk have.

Every time they skew the news; every time they let their political bias shine through their reporting; and yes, every time a supposed objective journalist gets up in front of a friendly crowd and takes a partisan political position — then the public sees and understands who the mainstream media really are, without any help from the president.

And that’s really what has gotten Wallace so upset.

The American public is getting wise.

Side note — or maybe not: The Newseum is closing its doors on Dec. 31, 2019. “It has struggled financially for a number of years and continuing to operate in our current location has proven unsustainable,” the organization declared recently. “In January 2019, we announced an agreement to sell the Newseum building on historic Pennsylvania Avenue to Johns Hopkins University, a premier academic institution, which will use the facility for its D.C.-based graduate programs.”
