The Vote Is In: House Judiciary Committee Passes Both Articles of Impeachment

The House Judiciary Committee just voted to approve two articles of impeachment which charge President Trump with abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. The articles passed by Democrats Friday charge the President with high crimes and misdemeanors.

House Committee Votes On Impeachment Articles

Unsurprisingly, the House Judiciary Committee vote tightly followed party lines with 23 Democrats voting to pass both articles to the full House. In total, the vote took only seven minutes.

The House will now make the historic vote on these two impeachment articles next week. President Trump would be only the third ever president to be impeached if the full House were to pass these articles.

House Judiciary Republicans united against the article with all 17 voting against. Republicans argued that these articles set a dangerous precedent for the future.

Republicans Condemn Impeachment Articles

House Republican Steve Scalise (R-LA 1st District) previously called the two articles “baseless” and “partisan,” adding that  “the facts aren’t on their side”.

Senator Lindsay Graham (R-SC), Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee and a strong proponent of the President, has already released a statement on what he calls a “sad, ridiculous sham” of a vote.

This is a developing story. Stay tuned for more details on the House impeachment vote and reactions. Including a statement from the President.
