Now that Donald Trump has the GOP nomination all but locked up, the question now turns to who will be his Vice Presidential pick?
There has been a lot of speculation and several people confirming or mostly denying their interest in the position.
Ben Carson, who was formerly in charge of the selection committee, has revealed five names Trump is considering.
Dr. Ben Carson confirmed five people on presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump’s list of potential vice presidential running mates in a recent interview.
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the 2008 VP running mate to John McCain, was one of the five Carson said was on the list. The rest are all former 2016 GOP presidential candidates: Trump’s closest competitor Sen. Ted Cruz, Ohio Gov. John Kasich, Sen. Marco Rubio, and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.
Carson named the VP contenders to the Washington Post during a car ride with his wife Candy to a TV interview. Carson has been traveling as a spokesman for Trump. He has also been placed on a committee working on pinning down a running mate for the real estate mogul turned GOP presumptive presidential nominee.
I’m skeptical of a few of those choices. Palin has become a bit of a joke since her first VP run and would have a hard time being taken seriously. After all the things Trump said about Cruz and his family, it would take a lot of pride swallowing for the Senator from Texas. Kasich is a good possibility, as he has a lot of moderate appeal and experience on the Hill. Rubio has flat out denied he wants or would accept the position. Chris Christie is another possibility, but it is possible Trump has the Attorney General spot saved for him.
What do you think? Who would you pick as Trump’s VP?
