This is amusing, coming from the man with armed Swiss guards for security.
Pope Francis insinuated over the weekend that weapons manufacturers and those who invest in the weapons industry are hypocrites if they call themselves Christians.
“It makes me think of…people, managers, businessmen who call themselves Christian and they manufacture weapons,” he said at a youth rally in Turin, Italy, according to Reuters. “That leads to a bit of distrust, doesn’t it?”

I think Pope Francis has a thought he would like to get across, but his actual statements are confusing. I hope he was talking to those who are the middle men buying and selling weapons to anyone in the world. Surely his Holiness knows this is not a perfect world. If it were not for the superior manufacturing capability of the United States during WWII, the result of that horrible war may have been different. Yes, 54 million people died in that conflict, but it was the leaders in Japan and Germany that brought about that war.
He also criticized those who invest in weapons industries, saying “duplicity is the currency of today…they say one thing and do another.”
Pope Francis says gun owners can’t be Christian. So he’s protected by a totally heathen Swiss Guard? Maybe they’re Hare Krishna’s.

So the Pope questions the faith of gun owners…so should we question his faith because he rides around in a bulletproof box?

The Pope is condemning all wars but to say that those who provide weapons for our defense cannot be Christians is insulting. Pope Francis is the only Pope of recent times so loose in his choice of words. It is like he does not think of the ramifications of his utterances.
Now the Pope says gun owners can’t call themselves Christian. Well Your Holiness, consider this Catholic lapsed. pic.twitter.com/F3IGvvk2th

Note to the “weapons industry” (gun sellers, knife makers, and employees or stockholders of same)–think about this when they pass the offering plate around. Maybe you had better keep that tainted, ill-gained money in your pocket.
He should be very prudent when making comments. I wish him well and hope he can be effective in bringing peace to the world.
