A Lieutenant Colonel and Army Lawyer says accused deserter Bowe Bergdahl should be awarded several medals for his service.
Let me say this first and foremost, the only medals this traitor deserves is jail bars that creak at night. There’s no way Bergdahl should be considered for any medal(s).
Army Lt. Col. Franklin Rosenblatt said Bergdahl, accused of abandoning his eastern Afghanistan post in 2009 before he was captured by the Taliban, is entitled to wear the Purple Heart, the POW Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, and the NATO Medal – and that the Army’s failure to grant them could cause bias among jury members.
Bias among jury members? How about disgust among jury members? What we are talking about is a lower-than-dirt soldier who left his post, and members of his unit were killed looking for him while he was hugged up with the enemy and taught them soccer.
“We believe this is a prejudice and casts a semblance of guilt,” Rosenblatt told Army judge Col. Jeffrey R. Nance, during a hearing largely focused on the defense’s ability to access classified material related to Bergdahl’s case. “We encourage the government to correct that.”
At the hearing, Bergdahl wore a pressed dress blues uniform with sergeant’s stripes, a Combat Infantryman Badge, and ten overseas service bars, representing his five years in captivity.
Nance, the presiding judge in Bergdahl’s trial, said there is plenty of time to resolve the issue before the scheduled Aug 8- Aug 19 trial. He quickly added that any prejudice caused by the lack of medals in pre-trial hearings would be “minimal.”
The alleged deserter faces the possibility of life in prison if convicted on the charge of misbehavior before the enemy, while the desertion charge carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison, a dishonorable discharge, reduction of rank to E-1, and forfeiture of all pay and benefits.

He should be rewarded with a fair trial and a prison sentence. His lawyers are asking that he be rewarded with medals. That’s why they are called defense lawyers.
Put this traitor in prison. He is a disgrace to the uniform he wears and all branches of the American Miliary.
I am disgusted beyond belief at the crap coming from his lawyers mouth! It was bad enough that they housed him close to my son-in-law’s gravesite at Leavenworth, then they actually sent him to Fort Bragg, the base where my son-in-law was stationed when he was sent at the beginning of the Iraq war. I am sure that even if the Army does the right thing and puts him away for LIFE, the muslim bozo in the White House will pardon him so it get away with it scot-free. I would give him the advice that if he is given a light sentence or pardoned, he and his family should seriously consider moving to another country. I don’t think their lives are too safe here, especially after the BS his father did in the Rose Garden. Just my opinion.
