Tim Allen Defends Roseanne Barr Over Firing: ‘Who Makes Up These Rules?’

Comedian Tim Allen, star of the hit shows “Home Improvement” and “Last Man Standing,” broke his silence about ABC’s decision to fire Roseanne Barr over a controversial tweet about a former aide to Barack Obama.

You may recall that Barr claimed former Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett was a creation of the Muslim Brotherhood and “Planet of the Apes.”

The comedienne apologized and claimed she didn’t know Jarrett was black. But with conservatives in Hollywood subject to a one-strike rule, she was removed from the show which bore her name and was rebooted with one named “The Connors” this fall. Allen, whose character in “Last Man Standing” also has some conservative leanings as Barr’s did, called her firing “unfortunate” and suggested, “that’s not the Rosie I know.”

Allen went on to explain that the current political climate makes it very hard for comedians to know which lines they can and can not cross.

“It’s a very icy time,” he said. “I’ve been a comedian for 38 years and I’ve never seen it, like Lenny Bruce said at the Purple Onion, ‘We’ve gone backwards.’ There are things you can’t say. There are things you shouldn’t say. Who makes up these rules?”

The liberal Hollywood mob makes up these rules, which is why a Trump-centric character or a Trump supporter like Roseanne gets one chance to make a mistake and is barred for life if she wastes that opportunity.

There are no second chances for conservatives in entertainment.

“As a stand-up comic, it’s a dangerous position to be in because I like pushing buttons,” he added. “It’s unfortunate.”

Meanwhile, Jimmy Kimmel from the same network physically threatens journalists, makes homophobic jokes, fat-shames women, has others touch his crotch, and has performed skits using blackface, still has a job. (RELATED: 5 Reasons ABC Should Fire Jimmy Kimmel).

It’s not that the rules are hard to understand, it’s that there are only enforceable rules for conservatives and none for leftists.

Allen is a reader favorite for his wit and humor and his willingness to laugh at himself and the liberal world he works in.

The star has previously vowed “to identify as an Asian woman that wants to be a European man,” in his show, has promised to address guns on his show, and recently took a jab at ABC for canceling his show.
