Tim Allen’s “Last Man Standing”, which was loved by conservatives, is officially coming back to television. And this time, it’s coming with a strong dose of Constitutional principles- especially the Second Amendment!
As Allen explained in a candid interview with Closer Weekly, the show that will be on Fox this Fall, after shamefully being canceled by ABC, will be tackling the right to bear arms.
The issue became obvious as Allen’s character Mike Baxter owns a chain of sporting good stores known as Outdoor Man. Of course, that story isn’t much different than anti-gun Dick’s Sporting Goods, which has been boycotted by NRA members. (RELATED: Dick’s Sporting Goods Experiences Backlash Following Gun Ban).
As Allen opined, his character “owns a sporting-goods store that has firearms, so we’re going to have to deal with that somehow.”
Allen adds he’s “excited because we have so much left in our tank. here were a lot of stories [they] hadn’t gotten to.”
Allen, just like fellow celebrity Roseanne Barr, is a Trump Supporter. And in the show, his character plays the only conservative in a family with three adult daughters… all of whom are more liberal than he is. ABC decided to cancel the show abruptly, despite good ratings. The harsh timing made it impossible for fans to rule out ABC’s likely political motivations, as the show presents a likable conservative character.
Fox Television Group CEO and chairmen Dana Walden and Gary Newman have publicly discussed how the success of “Roseanne” has changed the dynamics for politics on television, and “Last Man Standing” is a good risk for the network to take:
“’Last Man Standing’ ended too soon and the outcry from the fans has been deafening,” they shared. “We’ve wanted to put the show back together since its final taping a year ago, and Tim never gave up hope either. Thanks to its millions of devoted viewers and the irrepressible Tim Allen, we haven’t seen the last of ‘Last Man Standing.’”
“Last Man Standing” averaged 8.3 million viewers in Live +7 ratings for the 2016-17 season on ABC. It was the network’s second most-watched comedy, after “Modern Family.”
It will be interesting to watch how the reboot series will handle gun issues after shootings in Parkland, Florida and Santa Fe, Texas. But you can be certain that liberty-loving conservatives will enjoy it.
