Bowe Bergdahl Prefers Taliban to U.S. Treatment

Bergdahl taliban

Former Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl plead guilty to desertion and misbehavior before the enemy on October 16th. Bergdahl disappeared from his base in Afghanistan in June 2009 and was held in captivity by the Taliban for nearly a half-decade. In 2014, the Obama Administration negotiated a prisoner swap with the Taliban, releasing five detainees at Guantanamo Bay in exchange for Bergdahl.

Despite the circumstances leading up to his charges, and the fact that this all began during Barack Obama’s administration, Bergdahl still found it appropriate to blame Trump for his admission of guilt. He apparently didn’t think he’d get a fair trial due to Trump’s rhetoric about him in the past. But if his trial was in a“kangaroo court,” as Bergdahl described it, why cooperate, especially with the potential of using the trial as a platform to attack a supposedly biased and corrupt system?

Bergdahl had been called a traitor by President Trump, a claim he disputes. “You know, it’s just insulting frankly,” Bergdahl responded recently. “It’s very insulting, the idea that they would think I did that,” he said in regards to the fact that he deserted his post in 2009.

In fact, he’s been so maligned by the president that Bergdahl apparently preferred living in Taliban captivity.

According to Breitbart, “Bergdahl. 31, told British TV journalist Sean Langan in an interview printed in the Sunday Times in London that the torture he went through at the hands of the Taliban was less of a problem than the ‘administrative duties’ the Army assigned him as he awaited trial.”

More from the report: “Bergdahl told the interviewer that that he was tortured and kept in a steel cage during the five years the Taliban held him hostage, but that did not compare to how the Army treated him after the U.S. exchanged five Taliban prisoners being held in Guantanamo Bay for his release in May 2014.”

So, he’s deserter and drama queen, this Bowe Bergdahl.

Donald Trump Jr. couldn’t help but react to the ridiculousness of it all:

What do you think? Personally, I fail to see how claiming you prefer Taliban captivity doesn’t contradict the denials of being a traitor.

  1. I love this website for information; but, I’m having problems today. Well, the only thing that seems to be missing in media reports is the complete context in which Bergdahl’s moronic statement occurred. It would be nice to know the context- the what, why, when, and where, of it all. This standalone statement, this fragment lifted from a conversation, is totally out of context. Instead of asking some very good questions, a little journalistic investigation might have presented the question and then provided us with an answer to it. One must admit, however, that it does really make a catchy headline to drive a narrative. However, not so great is the above headline: “Read Also: Man Rescued From Taliban Didn’t Believe Donald Trump Was President.” Is this headline a news story? How many people expected Donald Trump to be president of the USA? Certainly not Democrats and the more traditional Republicans. Then, even after President Trump won the election how many still did not believe it, that “…Donald Trump Was President? Many people have yet to accept this presidency, but shame on them! So, why would someone who was overseas and released from the Taliban be expected to believe it?

  2. What a friggin moron traitor, he deserves life in prison or deport him to the Middle East to live with the Taliban & never let him back in the US. What a complete POS!

  3. If he prefers the Taliban to the US then he should just jump on the first plane out and go join them. He is just so full of crap and he deserves to be punished big time. Didn’t we use to shoot deserters?
