Bowe Bergdahl, Offended He’s Viewed As A Traitor, Pleads Guilty to Desertion

Bowe Bergdahl pleads guilty

As Army sergeant Bowe Bergdahl pleaded guilty to desertion charges in military court Monday.

Bergdahl was thought to have been captured by Taliban forces in 2009, though it later became clear he intentionally left his post.

Six American soldiers – Clayton Bowen, Morris Walker, Kurt Curtiss, Darryn Andrews, Michael Murphrey, and Matthew Martine – died in the course of trying to rescue Bergdahl.

On Monday, Bergdahl arrived at Fort Bragg to plead guilty to desertion and misbehavior before the enemy charges, which could result in prison time, including the possibility of a life sentence.

“I left my observation post on my own,” he told the judge. “I understand leaving was against the law.”

The development leaves a tremendous black eye on the Obama Administration, who traded five high-ranking Taliban commanders in exchange for Bergdahl’s return in 2014.

In an ABC News interview last year, Bergdahl attempted to portray himself as the victim and found it offensive that he could be considered a traitor.

In short, the traitor is upset that you think he’s a traitor.

“You know, it’s just insulting frankly,” he said referring to accusations he abandoned his post. “It’s very insulting, the idea that they would think I did that.”

Bergdahl made repeated attempts to have his case dismissed on grounds that then presidential candidate Donald Trump had used” unlawful command influence” to sway opinion.

Trump had referred to Bergdahl as a “dirty, rotten, no good traitor.”

“Frankly, I would take that son of a b****, I’d fly him back and drop him right over the top,” Trump added at a campaign rally to raucous applause.

Bergdahl and his legal team repeatedly claimed a fair trial would be an impossibility based on Trump’s remarks.

“We may as well go back to kangaroo courts and lynch mobs that got what they wanted,” Bergdahl said. “The people who want to hang me, you’re never going to convince those people.”

Now, having pleaded guilty, those people angry that his actions led to the deaths of six Americans have been proven right.

The only thing insulting here, Mr. Bergdahl, is your attempt to insult the intelligence of those who recognized and pointed out your desertion.

Six Americans killed, five terrorists freed, and only two men to blame – Sergeant Bergdahl and President Obama.

Are you glad Bergdahl will finally be punished for deserting his post? Share your thoughts below!

  1. This child, this incomplete man apparently does not understand the Uniform Code of military justice.
Worse, he does not understand the concept of camaraderie, esprit du corps, honor or even basic loyalty.
His thoughts are unformed, his process irrational and his classic victim attitude show us precisely why the US Coast Guard had him removed as being mentally unfit to serve.
All militaries ask us to something profoundly in opposition to humanity. We are asked to be willing to kill another human if needed.
One man in a squad, in a platoon, in a company, who is mentally unable to give his commanders faith can create mass fear within the rank of his fellow warriors.
All of us who served knew instantly what sort of guy this was. Those that lost their lives while attempting to ‘save; him had the right of it. We honor their lives.
    B. Bergdahl is a traitor, a consummate coward. A man who sought personal glory rather than protecting or defending his command, his battle buddies, his military family or the USA herself.
He is correct, he is guilty, and must either be put in a mental institution for life or have his life taken in payment for the lives that were lost due exclusively to his actions.
I am sure Benedict Arnold had a family, even friends. Lets allow Mr. Bergdahl to go down in history as one more traitor.

  2. This idiot caused the loss of Brave American lives. He deserves to die by firing squad as a traitor. This is why Obama should stand trial as a traitor. How long do we have to put up with Obama’s treason. The man is a fraud and deserves to be put behind bars as such. Enough of this crap.

  3. Obama got him out of a prison cell in Afghanistan and traded five high level Al Queda combatants for him. Now we’re putting him in a prison cell in the US for how many years? We should have left him in Afghanistan and kept the five bad (really bad) guys. Obama, always thinking he is the smartest guy in the room, applied some weird logic on this one. One of the instances where he demonstrated he is the worst President since Jimmy Carter.

  4. I remember a guy in Germany in WW2 that went AWOL. He did not cause anyone to die looking for him but it did not take but a short time and he was shot. This guy knew what he was doing and should face the music.

  5. I agree with Yadja who already commented. A firing squad would be appropriate for the traitor who caused six others to be killed as they searched for him.

  6. Hmm wonder what he considers what a traitor is if leaving your post and leaving other troops in danger isn’t being a traitor. Lock him up in the U.S. and he is still living a better life than he had with the enemy.

  8. A president (Obama) who would honor a traitor needs to brought up on charges as well. A Traitor is one of the lowest forms of humanity. He should face a firing squad period.

  9. I guess everyone’s forgotten that he collaborated with the enemy – a hanging offense in time of war. Oh well, at this point what difference does it make?

  10. As an Army Combat Support nurse since 1988, serving in two wars, tending to the Real Men and heroes I am offended by the sight of this piece of dung and he is a traitor and offensive to every single soldier who served honorably, along with he is responsible for the deaths of several that went looking for him.

    Needs a Firing Squad.
