After Biden Accused Texas Of ‘Neanderthal Thinking,’ State Reports Day Of Zero COVID Deaths

After Biden Called Texas Lifting Mask Mandate ‘Neanderthal Thinking,’ State Reports Day Of Zero COVID Deaths

According to a Monday news report, Texas had zero COVID-related deaths for the first time in over a year.

The news was reported by local Houston affiliate ABC 13.

Texas and Republican Governor Abbott came under fire from Democrats for his move to lift the state’s mask mandate and COVID restrictions back in March.

Most notably, President Biden called the move “Neanderthal thinking.”

Abbott shared some recent statistics for his state on social media on Sunday.

Biden Opposed Lifting Mandates

This is obviously good news for Texans.

But President Joe Biden had a different take on it in March.

Fox News reported, “President Biden skewered Texas, as well as Mississippi, at the beginning of March for relaxing lockdown measures, accusing state officials of ‘Neanderthal thinking.’

“At the time, Abbott had announced that businesses would be allowed to operate at full capacity – even though some health experts cautioned at the time that dropping preventative measures could lead to a spike in cases,” Fox News observed.

Biden: ‘I Think It’s A Big Mistake’

“I think it’s a big mistake,” Biden told reporters, after Gov. Abbott made his announcement.

“Look, I hope everybody’s realized by now, these masks make a difference,” Biden said. “We are on the cusp of being able to fundamentally change the nature of this disease because of the way in which we’re able to get vaccines in people’s arms.”

Biden was right. Americans were on the cusp.

It just appears now that states like Texas and Florida realized how well vaccines were working before those in blue states and the current Democratic president.

CDC Updates Mask Mandates

For the record, The Center for Disease Control and Prevention declared on May 13 that people fully vaccinated no longer have to wear masks inside or outside.

As the White House Twitter account put it, “Big news from the CDC: If you’re fully vaccinated, you do not need to wear a mask – indoors or outdoors, in most settings.”

“We’ve gotten this far,” the post continued. “Whether you choose to get vaccinated or wear a mask, please protect yourself until we get to the finish line.”

Republican Jim Jordan wonders just how much progressives who still insist on wearing masks and following the science, actually might have ulterior motives.

Knowing what we know now, Jordan might have a point.

And given Texas’ apparent success in significantly lowering deaths, who is most guilty of “Neanderthal thinking?”
