Remember when Adam Schiff gloated for months about all that “evidence” he had showing there was collusion between Trump and the Russians? Most of us assumed he was lying. We now have proof, according to Fox News sources; and those same sources say Schiff is in “panic mode” after acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell recently notified him that the report is now ready for release.
In September 2018, with a mid-year election looming, the bitterly divided House forged a rare bipartisan moment in what was hailed as an “act of transparency” by voting to make public the transcripts of 53 witnesses in the “Russiagate” investigation. 19 months later, these documents have yet to be released.
Earlier this week, however, House Republicans sought over 6,000 pages of transcripts pertaining to interviews conducted by the House Intelligence Committee in 2017 and 2018, as provided by that bipartisan House vote back in September 2018. A day after this request was made by House Republicans, acting DNI Grenell notified Schiff, D-California, that the redaction and declassification process was complete and that the records were ready for release – which now puts the ball in Schiff’s court.
In a letter to Schiff dated May 4 and obtained by Fox News, Grenell wrote, “In the interests of transparency and accountability, I urge you to honor your previous public statements, and your Committee’s unanimous vote on this matter, to release all 53 cleared transcripts to all Members of Congress and the American public as soon as possible.”
Senior officials from the administration and the intelligence community told Fox News on Wednesday that the transcripts of the House Intelligence Committee interviews show top federal law enforcement agencies and intelligence officials affirming they had no evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia during the 2016 election. Similarly, Robert Mueller, at the conclusion of his two-year-long investigation, said he and his team found no evidence of criminal conspiracy or coordination between the Trump campaign and Russia.
Another source familiar with the transcripts told Fox News that of the 53 witnesses who testified to the committee, not one testified that they had any evidence that the Trump campaign conspired, colluded, or coordinated with Russia during the 2016 election.
Not a single one.
Also expected to be released, according to the same Fox News source: Transcripts for interviews with Obama officials, such as former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper; former Attorney General Loretta Lynch; former Ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power; former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe; former National Security Adviser Susan Rice; former Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates; former Obama adviser Benjamin Rhodes; and former Obama counselor and Hillary Clinton Campaign Manager John Podesta.
Using “the quest for transparency” as a slick political talking point for three years becomes a bit trickier when all your cards are about to be thrown onto the table for the entire world to see. Should we expect another conveniently-timed ‘public crisis’ to erupt in the democrats’ efforts to distract from this imminent document drop? That seems to be the pattern.
