Justin Lansford lost his left leg in an IED explosion in Afghanistan. The paratrooper was recovering at Walter Reed when he was introduced to Gabe, a Golden Retriever who would become his therapy dog and best friend.
Gabe provides Lansford with physical and emotional support. The two are inseparable. Gabe even helped him propose to Carol, his high school sweetheart. Gabe carried the ring box in his mouth.
The veteran knew exactly who he wanted to be his best man at the wedding. Wearing a vest designed to look like a military uniform, Gabe stood with Justin as he married Carol.
