Whitmer Believes Biden But Not Kavanaugh: Not All Sexual Assault Claims Are ‘Equal’

Michigan Govenor Gretchen Whitmer argued that not all sexual assault claims are “equal,” which was why she believes Biden and not Kavanaugh.

“Just Because You’re A Survivor Doesn’t Mean That Every Claim Is Equal”

When Justice Brett Kavanaugh was being accused of sexually assaulting Dr. Christine Blasey Ford during his confirmation hearings in 2018, Governor Whitmer believed the alleged victim, despite a lack of solid evidence, and arguably strong evidence to the contrary.

Flash forward to today, and former Vice President Joe Biden is being accused of sexual assault by former staffer Tara Reade. Even though there is stronger evidence to support Reade’s claims, Whitmer now believes the accused, not the alleged victim.

CNN’s Jake Tapper quizzed Whitmer on this discrepancy, especially given the lack of  “contemporaneous accounts” from Ford that Reade does have. Whitmer, a self-proclaimed “survivor” of sexual assault and “feminist,” argued that “we need to give people an opportunity to tell their story, but then we have a duty to vet it:”

Just because you’re a survivor doesn’t mean that every claim is equal. It means we give them the ability to make their case, and the other side as well, and then to make a judgment that is informed. I have read a lot about this current allegation. I know Joe Biden, and I have watched his defense. And there’s not a pattern that goes into this. And I think that, for these reasons, I’m very comfortable that Joe Biden is who he says he is.

Whitmer then accused Tapper of asking her about the Biden/Reade case because she is a survivor herself.

“I really resent the fact that, every time a case comes up, all of us survivors have to weigh in,” she said. “It is reopening wounds. Take us at our word, ask us for our opinion, and let’s move on.”

Tapper pointed out that she was being questioned because she was the only Democrat on the show that day, and someone who has been floated as a possible running mate of Biden’s, not because of her history.

Whitmer Is Another Hypocrite!

Whitmer is just another Democrat we have to add to the list of people who are being hypocritical on these Biden allegations. Last week, Tarana Burke, one of the most prominent activists who founded the #MeToo movement back in 2018, spoke on social media that despite the accusations by Tara Reade against Joe Biden, she was still going to be endorsing him for President.

“The inconvenient truth is that this story is impacting us differently because it hits at the heart of one of the most important elections of our lifetime. And I hate to disappoint you but I don’t really have easy answers,” Burke said, adding that there are “no perfect survivors,” seemingly dismissing the claims put forward by Reade.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi was another who sniffed at the accusations against Biden. Pelosi told Alisyn Camerota thatthe people who worked for him at the time [said] that they absolutely never heard one iota of information about this, nobody ever brought forth a claim or had anybody else tell them about such a claim,” dismissing them without seemingly a second thought.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Democrats don’t care about women or victims of sexual assult – they care about power.
