This Campus Doesn’t Forget Our Veterans – What A Gift To Our Service Members!

So many Americans who do not serve do not understand the stress many of our veterans go through while serving in the Armed Forces. We have many Americans who care and provide services to help them but they will never really understand.

Our government most definitely does not understand what’s going on as they have been holding back help for years. Look at the Veterans Administration, it is in shambles with no oversight because someone doesn’t think it was important enough.

Thank God for the Univesity of Oklahoma State-Oklahoma City. They got a huge donation of $10,000 from Home Depot and the Student Veterans of America. That will help some veterans get what they need in the way of education including books.

From US Veterans Magazine:

Transitioning back to civilian life can be difficult for a soldier, but now a local community college will help veterans feel at home while on campus.

Oklahoma State University-Oklahoma City just received a $10,000 award from the Home Depot Foundation and Student Veterans of America.

The money will go toward the school’s veteran resource center on campus.

“The current space was not originally built to accommodate the large number of veterans on campus, and can only provide a basic level of services due to its size and limited visibility,” said Sam Snow, OSU-OKC Veterans’ Services coordinator. “Funding from the Vet Center Initiative will renovate the current office to create a new veterans center- offering an inviting atmosphere for veterans to receive assistance with their benefits, gain access to support services specifically designed for veterans, and build social support networks to motivate each other to stay in college.”

OSU-OKC currently enrolls 400 student veterans a semester and ranks in the top 20 percent of military-friendly colleges in the nation.

It’s the little things that help fix lives and make the environment a lot easier to transition in. Our service-members know they are loved and appreciated by a lot of patriotic Americans. We all fight together and love each other when it comes down to making things work.
