We Usually Say LOOKOUT When Step-parents Meet, Not This Time!

Why am I writing about this story? I’ve been a stepfather myself – twice in fact. I have taken over parenting duties in both instances and raised boys to be my own, so I know what the fathers in the video below are going through. But I never thought about what moms go through, as you will witness in the same video.

These stories are unique and awesome in their own right. It’s very hard for some stepparents and stepchildren to open up and tell each other how much they really love them. It’s even harder for stepparents to tell each other what they think!

From FaithIt:

In this heartfelt video, divorced parents are placed face-to-face with their son’s stepparents and given the opportunity to tell them how they really feel.

The stepparents, Jason and Natasha, think they are coming in to participate in a panel on blended families, but what they got out of the experience was SO much better.

“Aren’t you supposed to be someone I hate?” the dad asks Jason. “Aren’t you supposed to be someone who challenges my own manhood?”

But that couldn’t be further from the truth. When these grown men and women break down in tears of joy over something that should tear them apart, I couldn’t keep it together.

Watch the video here:

This isn’t for everyone, but it should be. There are a lot of broken families out there who, if they would just spend the time to get to know each other for the benefit of the children, things would be so much better.

I missed the boat twice in my life. But if I had saw this when I needed to, it would have changed my life.
