Fox News has exclusively reported that they have obtained a letter signed by 18 lawmakers who all are officially nominating President Donald J. Trump for a Nobel Peace Prize in honor of his extraordinary efforts to bring peace to the Korean Peninsula.
The letter, which was signed by Reps. Luke Messer (R-IN), Mark Meadows (R-NC), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Matt Gaetz (R-FL), and Steve King (R-IA), emphasize the historic nature of what’s going on between North and South Korea.

The letter reads, in part: “Although North Korea has evaded demands from the international community to cease its aggression for decades, President Trump’s peace through strength policies are working and bringing peace to the Korean peninsula. We can think of no one more deserving of the Committee’s recognition in 2019 than President Trump for his tireless work to bring peace to our world.”
As Fox News reports, “Messer, who is currently locked in a Republican primary battle to challenge incumbent Indiana Democratic Sen. Joe Donnelly in this year’s midterm, announced his intention to nominate Trump last week and floated the idea of the prize in March.”
“The only reason the North Korean dictator is coming to the table is because President Trump has stared him down and shown him that we have a leader in America who means business and who has changed the dynamic in major ways. That’s why I think he has to be considered for the Nobel Peace Prize.'”
Fox News notes that for the 2019 prize, the nomination period ended in February. In 2018, there were 330 nominees and those winners will be publicly announced this fall.
During a rally in Michigan over the weekend, Trump touted progress in North Korea and was interrupted by supporters chanting: “No-bel, No-bel, No-bel.” Also, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi begrudgingly admitted that Trump may very well qualify for the Nobel Prize.

All well and good and probably helpful for the Republicans likely running for re-election. I think it would be better to wait and see if the efforts, presently overwhelmed with emotional support, really turn into anything concrete. Otherwise we have another Nobel Peace award to someone who did nothing but try.

If the Nobel Peace Prize has retained any value President Trump is deserving. Unfortunately the merit of said prize was so compromised after it was awarded to Obama for doing nothing that it has become a hollow victory for any subsequent recipients or even nominees. The awarding of the Nobel PP to Obama relegated it to a “Participation” prize we see so much of in school sports and such.

The award given to Obama made it worse than the little trophies given to grade school students for being on an athletic team that never won a game: Obongo did nothing before he was given the award. He had merely talked and talked as he talked his was into the Presidency.

Mr. President deserves the Nobel Peace Prize. He has done more for America in 2 years than any other President has done in their full terms.
