House Oversight Chairman Trey Gowdy (R-SC) has a serious message for the Department of Justice and FBI: If they do not comply with subpoenas, they will be hit with “the full panoply of constitutional weapons” to get the documents they are demanding to see relating to FISA court abuse, which leads to the Russia probe, along with the hiding of incriminating Strzok-Page texts.
Gowdy issued the warning on “Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace,” where he explained that House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-W) lead a meeting with the DOJ and FBI officials Friday evening, where it was “made very clear there’s going to be action on the floor of the House this week if the FBI and DOJ do not comply with our subpoena request.” FBI Director Christopher Wray and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein were among those in attendance.
As Gowdy angrily exclaimed, “I don’t want the drama, I want the documents. And I think that Chris and Rod got that message. Contempt of Congress just means we’re going to be talking about this six years from now. I don’t want that. I want the documents. I don’t want the drama, and I don’t want the floor fight.”
Gowdy noted that Ryan is taking this matter very seriously too: “But they need to know that we’re willing to do it and unless they were in a different meeting than the one — I have never seen Paul Ryan as animated as I saw him Friday night. Gowdy noted that it was made clear to DOJ and FBI leaders that they can either be part of the cleanup crew or the coverup crew. Gowdy opined, “I would encourage them to be part of the cleanup crew.”
Gowdy is co-chairing a hearing on the Inspector General’s report tomorrow, and he has many questions: “Number one, you know, the Hillary Clinton failure to prosecute was predicated upon two things. Number one, that her emails were not exposed to foreign actors. There’s some evidence that that’s not true.”
Gowdy also wants to know why Strzok went into the interview with Clinton knowing she wouldn’t be charged, then proceeded to not ask any questions about intent. The bias is extraordinary, and Gowdy is convinced the political bias of those in the FBI impacted the outcome of the investigation.
It would be hard to imagine a Republican receiving this type of treatment. Clinton put America’s national security secrets on a private email server for foreign hackers to access and has yet to be charged in any criminal investigation.

I’m really tired of Trey Gowdy issuing “brutal warnings” and “dire consequences” without FOLLOWING UP ON HIS CLAIMS! I thought I liked the man…he has NOT followed up on anything he has claimed. He is a good person to “cross-examine” a witness and a BAD person to do what he says he will do. At first, I was surprised he was quitting Congress…NOW…I am glad he is. He is a “huff n’ puff”. We need people who ACT!
Trey is PART of the government. I am sure he wants to seriously reform the FBI and DOJ without completely destroying these institutions. Fact is it would seem they are intent on wrecking themselves in an effort to cover for the Obama Administration. Huge errors were made and criminal acts committed by very over zealous individuals who REALLY believed that DJT was a threat to the nation.
Problem is they were very wrong and now must pay for their soft coup and poor judgement. Voters determine the Presidency NOT unelected bureaucrats nd political activists. The radical left in this nation would get rid of DJT by any means possible including violence. That by their very own statements is their goal. FBI and other agencies should NEVER have chosen sides in this election. BUT THEY DID!!
But the IG report says there was no sign of BIAS against the Trump campaign? Even Helen Keller could see that there was bias on the part of the FBI brass and DOJ oversight people, and Ms Keller was stone blind. The IG report author must be some kind of special stupid or in denial.
Why can’t Congress authorize the marshalls or whoever, to just go in and take them. Isn’t that what the FBI did to Manafort? If they have the legal right to ask for them, if the DOJ and FBI will not comply, they just need to break down the door at 5 a.m. and take them.
FBI and DOJ, You may be classified as an “Independent” organization, but I do have a single bit of advice that you would be wise to follow. The House and Senate have oversight committees watching, but more importantly, THE HOUSE AND SENATE CONTROL THE MONEY.

The IG report has destroyed the credibility of the Department of Justice and the FBI. It confirms what Judicial Watch has investigated and revealed for nearly two years. The Obama DOJ/FBI investigation of Clinton was rushed, half-baked, rigged, and irredeemably compromised by anti-Trump and pro-Clinton bias and actions. As Judicial Watch uncovered the Clinton email scandal, it is outrageous to see a politicized FBI and DOJ then so obviously refuse to uphold the rule of law.
The IG report details repeated DOJ/FBI deference to Hillary Clinton, her aides and their lawyers. Americans should examine the report and judge for themselves whether the over-the-top deference to Hillary Clinton can be explained as anything other than political, especially from agencies that at the same time were actively collaborating with the Clinton campaign’s Fusion GPS to spy on and target then-candidate Trump. The IG report details how at least five top FBI agents and lawyers exchanged pro-Clinton and anti-Trump communications. The IG shares the concerns of Judicial Watch and millions of Americans that this bias cast a cloud over the credibility of the Clinton email and Russia investigations.
Paper tiger, waffler, flip-flopper, whatever. Gowdy talks big and carries a tooth pick. It would be nice to see those in congress put their money where their mouths are but why do you think their approval numbers approach negative integers.
Being found in Contempt of Congress seems like the local PTA finding a school principal “in contempt”. Just look at Lois Lerner (Mar. 2014) found in contempt. Although one can’t really know where she is and what she’s doing, what I read is she still works for the government and never went to prison or paid fines. And then there is Holder (June 20, 2012). It seems like contempt of Congress is like Di Niro saying F….Trump and the result is a few politicals ranting on social media. Big deal. It disgusts me that Congress has no power.
I’m sorry but I can’t quit. Even when the Congress does pass a law, immediately some group takes it to the courts and it eventually ends up before nine old farts with lifetime jobs uncountable to anyone, some of whom believe the Constitution is a “living document” that means only what they themselves think it means in todays society and culture. That’s why we need a Convention of the States.
Obama’s dep state, to include his muslim terrorist are still controlling our government. The CIA, DOJ, FBI are violating their charters of being non political. Obama used them as weapons against America for his liberal socialist agenda.

Gowdy, just two weeks ago, said that he thought the Mueller investigation was justified. He knew, full well, that the evidence produced by Strzok Et al and the FBI, was false. He knew that the evidence used to establish probable cause to secure a FISA warrant was false. He knew that Strzok was one of the main players on the Mueller team. He had to know that the Trump investigation was pure BS. Still he supports the Mueller investigation. I’m sorry people, but Trey Gowdy has been less than stellar in his pursuit of the truth so far. How does he justify this illegal investigation? This whole thing is an attempt to overthrow a Democratically elected president….. and Gowdy has gone along with it!

If held in contempt of Congress the Sergeant at Arms can in fact arrest both Mr. Wray and Mr. Rosenstein and compel them to appear before Congress. They can be jailed and fined. There is no issue in regards to Mr. Sessions recusing himself from the investigation of criminal conspiracy with Russia in the 2016 election – this is a separate investigation which predates the appointment of the special counsel. Mr. Sessions has both the authority and the duty to order his subordinates to comply with the subpoenas issued by Congress. If they refuse they should be fired.
Problem is, Session’s is as corrupt as the rest of them.

I have a great deal of respect for Trey Gowdy; however, how long do the American people have to wait to get the real truth of what went on during this irresponsible investigation by the FBI. The system appears to be so badly broken and there doesn’t appear to be anyway of repairing it. Justice is needed now and the Department Of Justice is responsible to give us just that.
Unfortunately the ‘real truth’ is that DC is so corrupt that we literally need to throw them ALL out & start over, then enact term limits & impeach anyone who doesn’t do their job. I know, it’s a nice dream huh?
