Arthur Gonsalves is an avid Donald Trump supporter. The Massachusetts man had several homemade Trump signs stolen from his yard. Fed up with it, he decided to fight back. But he got an unexpected response.
To deter the sign thieves, Gonsalves taped an black box with wires that said “Danger” on to one of his signs. The sign also said “Booby trap.”
Gonsalves succeeded in the fact that the signs weren’t stolen. But the police showed up, as The Eagle Tribune reported. The bomb squad was also called.
Police set up a perimeter around the house, closed Jenkins Road, and called the state bomb squad.
That last call was cancelled, however, when they heard Gonsalves’ story.
The black device with white tape and dangling wires was an old stereo equalizer. That’s all, he explained. He dug it out after two handmade Trump signs were stolen about two weeks ago from his property.
To deter the vandals, Gonsalves attached the box to one of two posts at the ends of a long sign with “Trump” painted across it in big red letters. He attached a flag to the other post.
Gonsalves, who has lived in the home since 1970, reports that the signs he posted for Ronald Reagan in the 1980s were also stolen.
