The rocker Alice Cooper is opening up about what Jesus Christ means to him in a resurfaced video that is going viral this week.

Jesus Christ Is ‘Everything’ To Cooper

When asked what Jesus Christ is to him, Cooper replied, “Well, I mean, everything!”

“I mean, you know, we’re not here without him,” he continued. “Most people I know, young people, think Jesus Christ is a swear word. They have no idea who Jesus Christ is.”

“He’s not preached enough,” added Cooper, 75. “Most written about character of all time in history, and yet people. go out of their way to not believe in him.”

When asked why this is, Cooper replied, “I think it’s because people don’t want to give up their godship.”

“They believe the Hollywood version of ‘I do more good than bad,'” he stated. “And I go ‘why is that?’ Satan’s got you right where he wants you.”

Cooper’s History With Christianity

Cooper was raised as the son of a preacher in a devoutly Christian household, but it took him many years to find God.

“I grew up in a Christian household,” Cooper said back in 1996, according to MovieGuide. “My dad was a pastor and he was an evangelist for 25 years. I used to go up and do missionary work with him with the Apaches in Arizona. My grandfather was a pastor for 75 years… My wife’s father is a baptist pastor, so I always refer to myself as the real prodigal son because I went out and the Lord allowed me to do everything and then just started reeling me back in.

“When you get out there you realize that you’ve had every car, you’ve had every house and all that, you realize that that’s not the answer, that there’s a big big nothing out there at the end of that,” he continued. “Materialism doesn’t mean anything. A lot of people say that there’s a big God-shaped hole in your heart and when that’s filled, then you really are satisfied. I think that’s where I’m at right now, I’m very young in the faith even though I grew up in it.”

Like many rockers, Cooper soon fell into a hard-partying lifestyle. It was only when his wife threatened to leave him if he didn’t turn his life around that Cooper finally found the Lord as an adult.

“One of the deals was we start going to church,” Cooper recalled. “I knew who Jesus Christ was, and I was denying him. I knew that there had to either come a point where I either accepted Christ and started living that life, or if I died in this, I was in a lot of trouble. And that’s what really motivated me. I just got to a point of saying, ‘I’m tired of this life.’ And I know that this is right when the Lord opens your eyes and you suddenly realize who you are and who He is.”

‘Never More Of A Rebel Than Jesus Christ’

Once he found Christ, Cooper contemplated changing his rock name, but his pastor convinced him not to.

“I went to my pastor and I said, ‘I think I’ve gotta quit being Alice Cooper now.’ He says, ‘Look where he put you. What if you’re Alice Cooper, but what if you’re now following Christ? And you’re a rock star, but you don’t live the rock-star life. Your lifestyle is now your testimony,'” he recounted.

“People talk about Alice being a rebel — there was never more of a rebel than Jesus Christ,” he added. “You wanna talk about a rebel — he was the ultimate.”

These days, Cooper has no problems reconciling being both a rocker and a Christian.

“There’s nothing in Christianity that says I can’t be a rock star,” he said. “People have a very warped view of Christianity. They think it’s all very precise and we never do wrong and we’re praying all day and we’re right-wing. It has nothing to do with that.”

We’re so glad to see that Cooper has found God in such a beautiful way. God bless you, Alice Cooper, and rock on!
