During a hearing on civil rights and civil liberties held Thursday before the House Oversight Committee, Democrat Rep. Ayanna Pressley claimed black Americans are treated “like second class citizens” and insinuated President Trump is largely to blame.
Pressley used her time to discuss the threat of White Supremacy to black Americans, alleging that there has been a rise in hate crimes in America “due to the hateful rhetoric being spewed regularly by the occupant of our White House.”
“This Administration has emboldened white nationalism, white supremacy and far-right extremism including Anti-Semitism and Islamophobia,” she said with an extreme lack of evidence and turning a blind eye to her own party’s bigoted rhetoric.
Worse, she claimed African-Americans in the United States are treated like lesser people who are targeted by law enforcement disproportionately for the crimes of “existing while black.”
“Racism against black Americans is entrenched in the enslavement of our African ancestors and has manifested in our nation’s institutions and policies,” Pressley insisted.
“And despite the progress we have made as a country, black Americans are still treated as second-class citizens, disproportionately targeted for: driving while black, walking while black, lunching while black, organizing while being black, literally existing while black,” she said.
Pressley made this claim as a black member of Congress.
The phrase ‘second class citizen’ must be the new talking point keyword for the radical left in Congress.
Rep. Ilhan Omar recently described Muslims as being treated like “second class citizens” in America.
“Here’s the truth,” Omar said prior to lying. “For far too long, we have lived with the discomfort of living as second class citizens, and frankly I’m tired of it and every single Muslim in this country should be tired of it.”
Percentage-wise, Jewish Americans are actually more prone to be victims of hate crimes in this country. If we’re playing the ‘words lead to violence’ game, then people like Omar, Rep. Rashida Tlaib and other Democrats who refuse to denounce their anti-Semitism are responsible for this.
Pressley is very clearly exaggerating the status of African-Americans in the United States, and another panelist’s testimony at the hearing made it clear that her hyperbole on hate crimes was not accurate either.
Robbie Soave writes at Reason, in rehashing this testimony, that “the FBI’s hate crime statistics do not, in fact, provide reliable evidence of a significant spike in hate crimes.”
Despite Pressley’s claims, President Trump’s words are not translating to a tangibly identifiable increase in hate crimes or a decrease in the citizenship status of any groups.
“The alt-right is a small fringe group, and … white nationalists are responsible for a relatively small number of murders relative to the overall violent crime rate,” Soave added.
Claims from the left that President Trump has failed to denounce hate groups have also been widely debunked.

Rep. Ayanna Pressley's demand for payment of money owed by who? This is a repost of my tweeter post I just sent few minutes ago. With all due respect Rep. Pressley, you talk trash...I am not white nor black and neither whatever color you want to raise, Ms. Pressley, but I am an American citizen, not being an illegal migrant...and I served this country for 20 honorable years in the military. Demanding payment for what your convoluted mind has dreamed of is out of character of an elected Representative in the U.S. Congress. Shame of you like your colleagues OAC, OHMAR, TALIB, to keep blaming the past history that this great country was built on...Past history of this great country, America, irrespective of all the good and bad years it had gone through with all its founders and heroes fighting for its greatness and for all its policies protecting and ensuring its citizens' civil rights and freedom, has been the living proof of its greatness over and beyond all countries around the world...and as other countries and their leaders envy, people from every corner of the world are crying to reach its shores defying deaths and all other odds. No other country nor (even) countries in the world can match its greatness despite being spat upon, terrorized upon, spied upon, its soldiers killed defending innocent lives, and we can name more, America is still envied by all countries in the world...And you just shamed yourself demanding money for what?
Hey Democratic House member Pressley, you do realize that 95% of slave owners were white and black southern DEMOCRATS! If you wish to get reparations for what happened over 160 years ago (some five or six generations ago), then the payback can start with you and all your fellow democrats! White Republican northerners gave their lives to free the slaves. Others worked to free them to the north via the underground railroad. Too bad Barack Obama did so little in eight years in office for the African American population. Trump did more than Obama in three years compared to his eight! But Obama sure got his money! Let's see, $400,000 per year times 8 years = 3,200,000. How the hell did he get 20,000,000 to buy his new home on Martha's Vineyard? Corruption!

Rep. Pressley is a typical habitual black liar. More and more black voters are turning to Trump. The reason are simple; Trump is NOT a RACIST, and blacks are economically much better off under Trump than under fake Obama.
If black s are treated as second class citizens, its because they earned that position. Most of them are not equal to white citizens because of there own activities and culture. Black culture is not equal !
What da hey? Every day is blame Trump day! Sick of these politicians using hate the President litany to be popular. I never even heard of some of these people until they say something hateful against the President and it's broadcasted in the news. Instead of perpetuating the racism card, say and do something good to unite all Americans then maybe we'll listen.
This women and her fellow Democrates have keeping the black community down for years. In the past the black family was tight knit, and church going. Once the federal welfare system was implemented many families fell apart, especially among blacks. Under President Trump black teen unemployment is at a low. The black community would do better to stick with the current President.

We all know what's pushing hate crimes. It's the media coverage of today. I'm a senior now but I don't remember being treated better than any blacks in my area. When I was 19 I couldn't find a job because I was eligible for the draft and no one wanted to hire you, train you and then watch you get drafted. I was raised by my widowed mother who held a minimum wage job, didn't drive. I carried groceries a mile from the store to my home. There was no welfare so that we would have enough food to last till the next paycheck. We did without on many things. Christmas often amounted to a new pair of homemade pajamas. A lot of our home furnishings were bought with green stamps saved over time. No cell phone or video games. You were lucky if you had an old baseball bat and a ball. Went to the doctor only when you were at deaths door. Just how were blacks treated worse back then and certainly not now with all the free programs for food, housing, even school meals. I ended up having to save change to be able to buy my lunch at school. It was cheaper then than taking a lunch and a lot better than what they cook today. No money no lunch back then.
