New York Times Frets Over Their Own Poll Showing Trump Earning Support From Black Voters ‘Unseen … In Modern Times’

New York Times and Siena College polling numbers show former President Donald Trump leading Joe Biden in 5 out of 6 swing states, all of which the current President won in 2020. Much to their dismay, Trump’s support among black voters is increasing dramatically, according to these polls.

The newspaper reports that voters have “enormous doubts” about Biden’s age and, while both men remain unpopular amongst voters, the President is paying a price for his handling of the economy and the generally perceived wrong direction of the country.

The polls show Trump leading in Nevada (11 points), Georgia (6), Arizona (5), Michigan (5), and Pennsylvania (4), while Biden retains a slight lead in Wisconsin (2 points).

“Across the six battlegrounds — all of which Mr. Biden carried in 2020 — the president trails by an average of 48 to 44 percent,” the Times writes.

Shockingly, they also note a “majority of voters” now say President Biden’s policies “have personally hurt them.”

Voters might be more apt to show up and cast their votes if they feel personally affected by the man in the White House.

Swing State Polls Spell Trouble For Biden

The New York Times and Siena polls show a 4-point average deficit for Biden in these key swing states, which tracks closely to a Bloomberg News and Morning Consult poll released a couple of weeks ago.

That survey showed Trump topping Biden 47-43% in a poll covering seven swing states.

It also pointed to the economy as the major point of contention with voters who are really not buying into Bidenomics.

That published poll result, measuring over 5,000 registered voters in those swing states, showed that those most concerned about the economy rejected President Biden’s related policies by a staggering margin of 65-14%.

The New York Times emphasized that Biden still has time to turn things around in these crucial states if he wants to defeat Trump, his likely opponent, in 2024.

“Economic indicators are up,” they explained, “even if voters do not agree with them.”

Trump’s Support Among Black Voters Is Unprecedented

Perhaps most alarming for the Biden campaign is something that seems to have caught the attention of the New York Times – support for Trump from black voters is approaching unheard-of heights.

“Black voters — long a bulwark for Democrats and for Mr. Biden — are now registering 22 percent support in these states for Mr. Trump, a level unseen in presidential politics for a Republican in modern times,” they write.

Biden, according to the Brookings Institute, received 92% of the black vote in the 2020 election.

The latest polling from the New York Times also seems to indicate Trump is performing much stronger in states that are more diverse than one might expect.

“In a remarkable sign of a gradual racial realignment between the two parties, the more diverse the swing state, the farther Mr. Biden was behind, and he led only in the whitest of the six,” they revealed.

Craig Scott, a man freed from prison in 2019 by a criminal justice reform bill signed into law by the former President, penned an op-ed indicating that Trump’s mugshot gives him more “street cred” among those who have dealt with the justice system.

Scott describes himself as a former “Black Robin Hood.”

“Trump’s repeated run-ins with the law, and what seems like an unfair obsession with catching him and punishing him disproportionately for his so-called ‘crimes,’ reminds a lot of us of what was done to us,” he wrote.

The mugshot “will only increase Trump’s ‘street cred’ — especially among formerly incarcerated voters,” he added.
