In an Instagram post on Monday, former first lady Michelle Obama urged “all Americans” to “respect the results of the election” and support a smooth transition of power.
Mrs. Obama criticized what she called “groundless conspiracy theories” about the election results and said they were dangerous.
Additionally, she claimed that their own transition out of power was difficult due to Donald Trump’s “racist lies” about her husband.

Michelle Obama: ‘This Isn’t A Game’
“Our love of country requires us to respect the results of an election even when we don’t like them or wish it had gone differently—the presidency doesn’t belong to any one individual or any one party,” Mrs. Obama wrote.
She continued, “To pretend that it does, to play along with these groundless conspiracy theories—whether for personal or political gain—is to put our country’s health and security in danger.”
“This isn’t a game,” Obama emphasized.
Though Team Trump is still challenging the results in the important battleground states of Arizona, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, the media and Democrats are behaving as if the election was already won by Biden.
Michelle Obama Claims Her Own Transition Was Difficult Due To Racism
The former First Lady also described how difficult it was for her to meet with Melania Trump after the 2016 election.
“Donald Trump had spread racist lies about my husband that had put my family in danger,” Obama claimed.
She did not elaborate on what those racist lies were, or how they put her family “in danger.”
“That wasn’t something that I was ready to forgive. But I knew that, for the sake of our country, I had to find the strength and maturity to put my anger aside.”
“So I welcomed Melania Trump into the White House and talked with her about my experience, answering every question she had…” Obama continued.
Former President Obama Has Made Similar Comments
Former President Barack Obama made comments about the election similar to his wife, when he called on President Trump to “think beyond your own ego” and concede the election.
“When your time is up, then it is your job to put the country first and think beyond your own ego, and your own interests, and your own disappointments,” Mr. Obama told CBS News’ 60 Minutes on Sunday.

President Trump Remains Defiant
“My advice to President Trump is, if you want at this late stage in the game to be remembered as somebody who put country first, it’s time for you to do the same thing,” Obama added.
But President Trump isn’t having it.
The defiant President said over the weekend that the race against Biden was a “rigged election.”
“He only won in the eyes of the FAKE NEWS MEDIA,” Trump tweeted.
“I concede NOTHING! We have a long way to go. This was a RIGGED ELECTION!”

It will be curious to see what the results turn out to be in the states that are being challenged.
