Meghan McCain Laughs At Idea Of Harris/Buttigieg In 2024: ‘Why Can’t The Left Just Be Normal’

Meghan McCain Blasts Idea Of Harris And Buttigieg In 2024: ‘Why Can’t The Left Just Be Normal’

On Saturday, former co-host of ‘The View,’ Meghan McCain, blasted the idea suggested by some of Vice President Kamala Harris and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg running on the presidential ticket in 2024.

McCain took to Twitter to voice her opinion.

McCain: ‘Why can’t the left just be normal?’

“What even is this?” McCain tweeted regarding a possible Harris-Buttigieg pairing.

McCain added, “Why can’t the left just be normal – and grounded in some semblance of reality?”

Included in McCain’s post was a retweet of a post from the Twitter account for the home of Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs.

“Kamala Harris and Pete Buttigieg could agree to run together in 2024 if Biden does not run again, giving the Democratic Party a very strong ticket that would seem like a natural continuation of Biden’s first term, writes @LincolnMitchell,” the tweet read.

Within that post was a CNN opinion piece titled, “Harris and Buttigieg could be allies instead of rivals.”

Lincoln Mitchell wrote for CNN, “The next presidential election is three years away. Recent reports about early concern over whether President Joe Biden will run for reelection in 2024 and about tension between potential 2024 rivals, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and Vice President Kamala Harris are, to some extent, standard Washington gossip that can be safely ignored. Still, there may be something more than that.”

Harris-Buttigieg 2024?

“Buttigieg is clearly very ambitious, ran an impressive presidential campaign in 2020 and has only strengthened his political skills since then. Harris, as the vice president, is a leading contender to be the face of the post-Joe Biden Democratic Party. Each may see the other as standing in their way as 2024 approaches. This is particularly important because the 79-year-old Biden, despite wisely sending signals that he will seek reelection in 2024, may decide that he doesn’t want to run three years from now.”

There are a few problems with the notion of Harris or Buttigieg, or Harris and Buttigieg.

For starters, Harris has some abysmal polling numbers

A recent USA Today/Suffolk poll shows Harris with just 28% approval – and 51% disapproval.

She ran for President in 2020, and did so poorly she didn’t even make it to the Iowa Caucus.

Two weeks ago, White House press secretary Jen Psaki refused to even say if President Biden would support a Harris run in 2024.

Still, there may be some hope for Harris, at least among Democrats.

Another recent poll shows that, should Biden not run in 2024, Harris leads the pack among Democrat respondents.

With a whopping 13%.
