McCarthy Picks Jim Jordan, Other Trump Allies For Pelosi’s January 6 Select Committee

Jim Jordan, a staunch ally of former President Trump, is among the five Republicans chosen to serve on the select committee created to investigate the January 6th Capitol protest.

Jim Jordan, a staunch ally of former President Trump, is among the five Republicans chosen to serve on Nancy Pelosi’s select committee created to investigate the January 6th Capitol protest.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy made the announcement Monday evening.

Joining Jordan (R-OH) on the select committee are GOP Reps. Jim Banks (IN), Rodney Davis (IL), Kelly Armstrong (AL), and Troy Nehls (TX).

Banks will serve as the ranking member as “a rising star who is serving this cycle as chairman of the conservative Republican Study Committee,” according to The Hill.

Jordan, Banks Named To Select Committee

Banks responded to being named ranking member on the select committee by promising to find “the facts about the lead up to January 6 … and the responses from Capitol leadership and the Biden administration.”

“Make no mistake, Nancy Pelosi created this committee solely to malign conservatives and to justify the Left’s authoritarian agenda,” he added.

Jim Jordan responded to his addition to the select committee by posting a video of Democrats objecting to Trump’s election victory in 2016, as well as those fomenting the Russia collusion conspiracy.

All five voted against impeaching Trump for his alleged role in the Capitol protest.

‘Impeachment – Round Three’

Jordan appeared on Newsmax to discuss his role on the select committee and also noted that Pelosi’s decision to create a select committee is political in nature.

“We know what this is – this is impeachment, round three,” he claimed. “This is to go after President Trump.”

Jordan went on to point out that Democrats don’t want the focus to be on the Biden administration and their party’s absolute failures of governance – including inflation, the economy, and the border crisis.

“So what are they going to do?” he asked facetiously. “Go after President Trump. The most successful President in our lifetime.”

Forbes reports that even with McCarthy’s choices for the select committee, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi “has the final say over appointments to the panel.”

“The text of the resolution creating the committee … allows Pelosi to appoint all 13 members of the committee, including five ‘after consultation’ with McCarthy,” they explain.

Earlier this month, Pelosi named her own eight choices to serve on the select committee.

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) was the only Republican selected by Pelosi due to her anti-Trump history.

The Republican celebrated her addition to the panel.

“Congress is obligated to conduct a full investigation of the most serious attack on our Capitol since 1814,” she said.

“That day saw the most sacred space in our Republic overrun by an angry and violent mob attempting to stop the counting of electoral votes and threatening the peaceful transfer of power.”

Democrats tried objecting to the certification of electoral votes for Donald Trump in 2017 on 11 separate occasions according to CNN.

  1. There's no surprise there. Democrats expected that McCarthy would name deniers and blowhards. There would be a story if he named honest, open-minded, non-hypocritical members. It's almost as if they weren't there being held virtual hostages and being protected by workers they failed to recognize. This is not a reason for glee and triumph. This is a moment of shame. How can you laud McCarthy, who was in fear and imploring Trump to save his backside and others', then turns around to kiss a ring and a rump? You should ALL be thinking more critically than you do. If not, then you are blindsided by your willing belief in an untruth. Do NOT, I beg you, pass on this trait to your children.

  2. What's been over 200 years now? The Democratic Party represented "color" for years. It represented white people. It represented slaveholders and Southerners opposed to civil rights and integration until 1960 and 1964, when it began representing a more diverse constituency. Many of those "Dixiecrats," white Southerners opposed to civil rights, such as Strom Thurmond, began leaving the Party as early as 1948–why? Because the Democrats made noises about representation.

I can't tell you what to do with your spare time, but studying U.S. political history might improve your idle hours and inject more accuracy and sense into your comments.

  3. Fact there was widespread voting fraud at the grassroots activist levels of the DNC. Fact they did nothing to impede the insurrection and destruction by ANTIFA and BLM and even legitimized their ideological angst and incitements leading to more black on white murder, and black on black. They have been in a state of genuine insurrection for more than a year and the DNC ? When is the DNC going to represent people instead of colors? It's been over 200 years now. Biden has a lot of cut outs just like the Clinton's and Obama. Loyalty to them and the party is their primary moral value. Otherwise they do not seem to have morals.
One person was murdered on January 6th shot by a coward, a man who has a questionable record and if he wasn't a minority member we might ask if he would never have gotten the position of LT in my opinion but such questions even if fair are racist? He stuck his gun out a door and shot blindly? Sounds like another man who should be tried for a hate crime for shooting at whites in a barrel. The police officer that did die we were lied to by the NY Times claiming he was bashed in the head with a fire extinguisher.
People wonder if the GOP is any less in on it? Get Trump, seems to have been the greater concern. Let's say from the comments I've read Diogenes isn't looking on the Hill for an honest person and I doubt Lot would be able to find one righteous person. Although I believe I know a few exceptions who need to speak so we can hear them.

  4. We all know its pure politics, the democrats will lie, with hold information, they definitely will not hold the real people responsible, like Pelosi and other democrats plus the antifa people who donned maga gear to make it look like Trump supporters were behind the protest. The riots in cities like Portland, Seattle, Chicago, Baltimore and other democrats controlled cities are far worse than what happened on Jan.6th. This is just another waste of taxpayer dollars by a mentally unstable democrat party the real threat to democracy and our democratic republic.

  5. It won't matter which Republicans are on the committee, especially when Pelosi loads it with more DemocRATs and RINO's than there are Republicans. What is the problem which having equal numbers from both parties, picked by that parties hierarchy ie; Pelosi and McCarthy. Oh yeah, then the DemocRATs can't win without cheating.
