Venezuela’s government has kicked CNN International off the air in Venezuela as President Nicolas Maduro attempts to quell an armed revolt led by opposition leader Juan Guaido.
Conatel, the Venezuelan agency responsible for regulating telecom companies, ordered DirecTV, Net Uno, Intercable and Telefónica to cut CNN International in English off the air Tuesday. CNN International had already been cut off months ago, Mediaite reports.

Conatel also targeted the British network BBC with its blackout order, according to reports.
A local radio station in Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, announced on Twitter that regulators from Conatel had ordered it to stop broadcasting Tuesday morning.
Guaido, president of Venezuela’s National Assembly, has been calling for Maduro to step down for months after the president won a contentious election last year. The rift among Venezuelans appeared to come to a head Tuesday when Guaido called for members of the military to overthrow Maduro.
Members of the military on opposite sides of the struggle clashed in parts of Caracas and around La Carlota air base, where Guaido made his call to arms.
Thousands of protesters and members of the Guiado-backed military are marching through the capital city toward the Presidential Palace. It is unknown whether Maduro is in his official office at the palace or not.
Maduro has denounced Guaido’s revolt and Venezuela Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza accused Guaido of being a puppet of the U.S. Arreaza denied that the military was revolting against the Maduro regime and said the uprising was planned in Washington, D.C., by “the Pentagon and Department of State, and by [U.S. National Security Adviser John] Bolton.”
Guaido’s bid to take over Venezuela as interim president is being backed by the U.S. Maduro’s government is supported by Cuba, China and Russia.
Socialism/Communism is based on the assumption that people will act against their OWN best interests for the good of the state. Of course that is simply NOT realistic, and when they won’t do it, why, they must be MADE to do it at the point of a gun. Why would ANYBODY support this nihilistic ideology that ALWAYS ends up in despair, starvation and MASS MURDER?

You may admire his honesty now but remember that the Venezuela socialists made the exact same promises early on. They do not show their true colors until their heel is on the throat of people. Only then come the storm troopers and the choking off of outside opposition.

I’m amazed that many of the comments are praising the cutting of CNN International from being broadcast in Venezuela by Maduro. Obviously CNN and the BBC were broadcasting things Maduro didn’t like. Maduro is controlling the press and what his people see. That is wrong. While CNN is NOT watched in my home, I would scream bloody murder should the President decide to ban it’s broadcasting.

They think everyone should remain faithful to socialism while they starve. When they mention the “wealthy” they are holding up a straw-man. Remember, their countries money is worthless. So wealthy is someone with some food. The army has been raiding homes, taking what they want from everyone. The populace has resorted to doing anything to survive, such as buying the ‘state sponsored gas’ (.07) a gal (at a loss for their country to manufacture) and smuggling it out of the country where they can sell it in exchange for other countries dollars, so they can buy food so they can survive. I suppose those who manage to smuggle are the new wealthy. But the Socialist must always hold up someone as the problem, and never admit their problems and that Socialism has never worked. Don’t get me wrong here: Respect your enemies. Know them, defeat them, don’t under estimate them. But because people want to reduce humanity all over the world, they have to be reduced by wars (if not by disease).
