President Donald Trump has been tweeting that a possible COVID-19 vaccine was a huge possibility before the end of the calendar year.
His optimism for this to happen is second to none. He truly believes it and to inform the American people about it, sort of gives hope that things should start to begin a normal phase across the country.
Even as Trump is pushing that news, critics such as John Hopkins University Dr. Tom Inglesby are raising their eyebrows at such a benchmark.

On Sunday, Inglesby told NBC’s “Meet the Press, “We should hold out some level of hope that if everything goes in the right direction, we could be seeing a vaccine by the end of the year.”
OPERATION WARP SPEED
Trump implemented Operation Warp Speed to get a vaccine to the masses, and even Inglesby admits the environment at this point makes it possible to accomplish the rare feat of a vaccine within a year.
Inglesby told host Chuck Todd; “Coming into this year, I would have said it was completely unrealistic, given that there are now 110 vaccine projects going on around the world that all the major vaccine companies in the world are working on this in some way, and given that Tony Fauci and Moncef Slaoui are now leading figures in the U.S. in this project and they both believe it’s possible, I think it is possible.”
“Everything would have to break in the right way, and there are many ways that it might not work,” Inglesby concluded. “So, I don’t think we should bank on it.”

ANOTHER CRITIC SOUNDS OFF
Scott Gottlieb, former Food and Drug Administration commissioner, added the same level of optimism and caution.
“A lot of things can go wrong,” Gottlieb told CBS’s “Face the Nation.” “A lot of things can be delayed. It’s very hard to get to the point where you’re manufacturing at high, high quantities. I would say that’s probably more likely a 2021 event that we’re going to have the vaccine available in sufficient quantities to mass inoculate the population.”
“I do think we’ll have the vaccine available in the fall for use maybe to ring fence an outbreak if you have an outbreak in a large city or to inoculate a certain portion of the population on an experimental basis to protect them because they’re at high risk of a bad outcome,” Gottlieb added.
HOW WILL THE DEMOCRAT SPIN IT?
I’ve seen some preliminary attempts already being submitted. They don’t care about the loss of life. If they did, they would not advocate for the baby parts industry. Their real and only focus is on the election and as par for the course will continue to create false narratives with the usual deflections and talking points propaganda program.
In short, nothing’s changed much except for the increased level of lefty desperation. Are the popcorn eaters own the edge of their seats? Pretty annoying to me, I find the Barr investigation much more critical.
Once it was realized that the people at risk were elderly and sick, particularly in nursing homes, instead of asking everyone to shelter in place and social distance, and start wearing useless masks, resulting in business shutdowns and lost jobs, we should have isolated those communities of sick and elderly. Florida seems to have done right, and New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts seem to have done it wrong. Lessons learned I hope.
JUST REMEMBER
The President has issued the challenge to vaccine and drug companies to come up with one by the first of 2021. I wouldn’t bet against them.
While the testing may not meet the one year or so standard, this virus is something that needs to be handled now. Not in the middle to next year or later. The testing will show that any vaccine developed will do the job.
