Idaho Becomes First State To Ban Critical Race Theory After Republican Governor Signs Bill

Idaho Governor Brad Little (R) signed a bill prohibiting public schools and public universities in his state from teaching critical race theory.

Idaho Governor Brad Little (R) Wednesday signed a bill prohibiting public schools and public universities in his state from teaching critical race theory.

The legislation describes the tenets of “critical race theory” are designed to “exacerbate and inflame divisions on the basis of sex, race, ethnicity, religion, color, national origin, or other criteria in ways contrary to the unity of the nation.”

The intent of the bill is outlined as a means to have public schools “respect the dignity of others, acknowledge the right of others to express differing opinions, and foster and defend intellectual honesty, freedom of inquiry and instruction, and freedom of speech and association.”

The bill passed the state House last week and the Senate Monday.

Christopher Rufo, a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute, a conservative think tank, celebrated the signing of the bill by Little, referring to it as “a historic win,”

Trump Slams Critical Race Theory

Former President Trump was a consistent voice of opposition to critical race theory during his last months in office.

Vox, this past September, accused Trump of “launching an assault on critical race theory and diversity training” as he issued an executive order banning federal contractors from conducting racial sensitivity training.

Trump further took aim when he announced his 1776 Commission designed to promote patriotic education and push back against leftist indoctrination efforts.

“Students in our universities are inundated with critical race theory,” the former President stated.

“This is a Marxist doctrine holding that America is a wicked and racist nation, that even young children are complicit in oppression, and that our entire society must be radically transformed.”

He warned that “critical race theory is being forced into our children’s schools” amongst other places, something parents in Idaho will no longer have to worry about.

As RealClearInvestigations indicates, Trump’s ban was blocked by a federal judge in December and “immediately revoked by Joe Biden upon occupying the White House in January.”

America Is Not A Racist Nation – But Democrats Want It to Be

RealClearInvestigations also notes that critical race theory is about to endure a reckoning of sorts with numerous lawsuits alleging it foments discrimination “and other illegal policies targeting whites, males and Christians.”

Senator Tim Scott (R-SC), in his rebuttal speech to President Joe Biden’s address to Congress last night, addressed the theory.

“Today, kids are being taught that the color of their skin defines them again — and if they look a certain way, they’re an oppressor,” Scott alleged.

He accused Democrats of pushing a racial divide by pretending America hasn’t made any progress since the days of slavery, “doubling down on the divisions we’ve worked so hard to heal.”

His next words put race-baiting liberals into a proverbial apoplectic fit.

“You know this stuff is wrong,” declared Scott.

“Hear me clearly: America is not a racist country. It’s backward to fight discrimination with different types of discrimination,” he continued. “And it’s wrong to try to use our painful past to dishonestly shut down debates in the present.”
