Donald Trump indicates he’s “100 percent … thinking about running” in 2024, even discussing who he might consider as a running mate.
The former president commented on his future plans in an interview with Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo.
“The polls show that everybody wants me to do it,” Trump said. “100 percent I’m thinking about running and we will, I think, be very successful.”
Trump’s comment buoys those he made in an interview last week with Sean Hannity in which he revealed he’s “looking at (a 2024 run) very seriously, beyond seriously.”

In an interview on the Dan Bongino podcast Wednesday, Trump added that should he decide to run in 2024, an official announcement would come after the midterms.
Trump expanded on the conversation with Bartiromo when she asked if he would consider choosing Florida Governor Ron DeSantis as his vice presidential nominee.
The former President indicated DeSantis is a “friend of mine.”
“A lot of people like that — you know, I’m just saying what I read and what you read — they love that ticket,” Trump replied. “But certainly, Ron would be considered. He’s a great guy.”
DeSantis attended a Republican National Committee retreat earlier this month and echoed Trump’s tone.
“We have too many people in this party who don’t fight back,” he lamented.

In yet another sign that Donald Trump intends to remain active politically going forward, the Republican leader is reportedly bringing back the Make America Great Again (MAGA) rallies that have been so popular.
In his interview with Hannity, he said he planned to assist Republican candidates in 2022 and that the thing he misses most about being President is “helping people.”
“I miss the most helping people because I can directly help people,” Trump said of his first term. “That’s why I did it.”

DeSantis, meanwhile, has been the subject of speculation of his own for 2024, appearing to be the frontrunner for the nomination should Trump decline to run.
DeSantis has seen his approval rating in recent months on the rise, in part due to his handling of the coronavirus pandemic and his refusal to trample on the freedoms of Florida residents.
A Political Insider’s poll of who readers want to see as the Republican nominee in 2024 had DeSantis firmly in second place, trailing only Trump.
A ticket with the top two candidates in the GOP would certainly be effective in garnering the nomination, but would it translate to votes in the general election?
