Elton John Cancels Concerts After Contracting “Harmful and Unusual” Infection

Many of us have watched this legend perform in videos while others have been lucky to attend his concerts. His music has spanned generations, and now he’s in need of your prayers.

During Elton John’s trip to South Africa, he contracted a bacterial infection which was diagnosed as “harmful and unusual.” At 70-years-old, that’s not a good thing. John became so violently ill on his way to Chile; he was diverted to the UK where he has undergone treatment, and according to his rep, he’s recovering.

It seems we’re losing our legendary singers on a weekly basis and some of them are passing away at such an early age. We pray John fully recovers and things work out.

“After spending two nights in intensive care followed by an extended stay in the hospital, Elton was released from hospital on Saturday, April 22 and is now comfortably resting at home per doctor’s advice,” the statement read. “Infections of this nature are rare and potentially deadly. Thankfully, Elton’s medical team identified this quickly and treated it successfully.”

The legendary performer is “expected to make a full and complete recovery” and return to the stage on June 3 in Twickenham, England.

In the meantime, John’s April and May concerts at Las Vegas’ Colosseum at Caesars Palace have been canceled. His scheduled performance for Bakersfield, Calif., on May 6 is also canceled.

“I am so fortunate to have the most incredible and loyal fans and apologize for disappointing them,” John said in a statement. “I am extremely grateful to the medical team for their excellence in looking after me so well.”
