Governor Greg Abbott Vows To Use ‘Right Of Self-Defense’ To Protect Texas From ‘Lawless’ Biden

Texas Governor Greg Abbott issued a fiery statement regarding President Biden's "lawlessness" at the southern border.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott issued a fiery statement regarding President Joe Biden’s “lawlessness” at the southern border in a statement Wednesday.

Abbott accused Biden of violating his constitutional duty to enforce federal immigration laws and protect the states, asserting that Texas has the right to defend itself against the “invasion” of illegal immigrants crossing the border.

He invoked a state “right to self-defense” and laid out his Constitutional authority to do so, saying it “supersedes any federal statutes to the contrary.”

“The Executive Branch of the United States has a constitutional duty to enforce federal laws protecting States, including immigration laws on the books right now,” Abbott wrote.

“President Biden has refused to enforce those laws and has even violated them,” he added.

Abbott And Texas Vow To Hold The Line

Abbott’s statement excoriating President Biden follows a recent Supreme Court ruling that allows federal agents to remove concertina wire installed by Texas at the border.

Abbott, however, cited the nation’s Founding Fathers in his assertion that the Lone Star State will not be bullied into backing down.

“Visionaries who wrote the U.S. Constitution foresaw that states should not be left to the mercy of a lawless president who does nothing to stop external threats like cartels smuggling millions of illegal immigrants across the border,” he claimed.

Earlier this week, in a 5-4 vote, the Supreme Court granted an emergency request filed by the Biden administration arguing that Texas was preventing federal agents from carrying out their duties.

The ruling allows federal agents to cut through or remove the razor wire used to defend Texas’ border.

Undeterred, Abbott and the Texas National Guard said that they will “hold the line” against the federal government.

“We remain resolute in our actions to secure our border, preserve the rule of law, and protect the sovereignty of our State,” they said in a statement,” the state’s Guard said in a statement.

Some Democrats have argued that President Biden should forcibly seize control of the Texas National Guard, something Abbott’s statement contends his state’s right to self-defense supplants.

Texas Now Offering Razor Wire To Private Property Owners

Not content with simply holding the line, Abbott and the state of Texas are becoming proactive in their fight to secure the southern border.

Texas Border Czar Mike Banks told ranchers this week that the state would readily install razor wire on their private property at no charge.

The ongoing razor wire dispute has gone back and forth for some time, with the Biden administration seemingly getting the last word with the Supreme Court ruling.

Abbott, however, appears to be taking a page from the President’s book and ignoring it.

Federal agents had already been seen cutting the wire in several past instances.

If ever there was a visual on who is the enemy of the American people, it’s the federal government coming to open wide a door that has been slammed shut by a Red State governor.

Imagine what you might do if somebody kept coming to your house and letting criminals in the front door. You’d invoke a right of self-defense.
