In a display of unwavering determination, the Texas National Guard has doubled down on their efforts to protect the border despite a recent Supreme Court ruling.

Governor Greg Abbott has made it clear that Texas will not shrink in the face of opposition stating, “Texas will not back down from our efforts to secure the border in Biden’s absence.”

Earlier this week, in a 5-4 vote, the Supreme Court granted an emergency request filed by the Joe Biden administration arguing that Texas was preventing federal agents from carrying out their duties. The ruling allows federal agents to cut through or remove razor wire that had been installed at the southern border.

The Texas National Guard, however, issued a statement saying that they had no intentions of backing down in their effort to secure the border.

“The Texas Military Department continues to hold the line in Shelby Park to deter and prevent unlawful entry into the State of Texas. We remain resolute in our actions to secure our border, preserve the rule of law, and protect the sovereignty of our State,” they said in a statement.

Abbott posted a similar message on social media concluding, “Texas will not back down from our efforts to secure the border in Biden’s absence.”

Texas National Guard Won’t Back Down

It’s clear that the Texas National Guard is committed to holding the line and protecting the border, no matter the cost.

In fact, video posted to social media shows them doubling down on their efforts and setting up even more razor wire in the area of Eagle Pass, Texas, a hotbed of illegal immigrant crossings.

The Guard seized control of Shelby Park weeks ago, restricting Border Patrol from accessing the area and claiming federal agents “perpetuate illegal crossings.”

They also appear to be using massive shipping containers as a makeshift border wall, something Arizona attempted to do before the Biden administration took them to court and forced their removal.

The Supreme Court’s ruling may have created a legal battle, but it has also galvanized the resolve of Governor Abbott and the Texas National Guard.

That resolve has raised the ire of Democrat congressman Joaquin Castro (TX), who laughably claimed Abbott is creating chaos at the border (projection) and called on President Biden to seize control of the Texas National Guard.

“Governor Greg Abbott is using the Texas National Guard to obstruct and create chaos at the border,” Castro said. “If Abbott is defying yesterday’s Supreme Court ruling, [President Biden] needs to establish sole federal control of the Texas National Guard now.”

Civil War Afoot?

Castro, as is often the case, is misinformed. The razor wire was implemented to eliminate chaos and crisis and restore order at the border.

However, in certain circumstances, the federal government can indeed seize control of a state’s National Guard. This is known as “federalization” and is typically done through the use of – get this – the Insurrection Act.

That’s right: Castro believes the Texas National Guard should be absorbed by the federal government because, as worded in the Constitution under the Act, they have the power “to suppress insurrections.”

People wanting the rule of law and fair elections in this country are the enemy in the eyes of the Democrat Party, when the real enemy of this nation is sitting comfortably in the White House.

Some Republican lawmakers are viewing the federal government’s consistent efforts to strip states of their right to defend the nation’s border as acts of aggression.

“The feds are staging a civil war, and Texas should stand their ground,” Rep. Clay Higgins (R-LA) said after the Supreme Court ruling.

Thus far, they are. But would anyone be surprised if President Biden called in the military to take control of the border situation? And by “take control,” we mean squash the efforts of the Texas National Guard and open the border as wide as possible.
