Governor Abbott: Letters to Biden Are Fine and Dandy – But How About Using Your Power to Close the Border?

Texas Governor Greg Abbott hand-delivered a letter to President Biden upon his arrival for the first border visit of his presidency, urging him to take action as “America is suffering” under the current illegal immigration crisis.

The scathing letter outlines a series of actions Biden must take to quell the crisis.

A crisis, Abbott writes, that “is happening because you have violated your Constitutional obligation to defend the states against invasion…”

In the letter’s first sentence, Abbott declares Biden’s visit to be “$20 billion too little and two years too late.”

The letter also notes the glaringly obvious photo-op nature of the President’s visit. As The Political Insider reported earlier, El Paso cleared out illegal immigrant camps and cleaned up the streets ahead of Biden’s visit.

Abbott: America is Suffering Under Biden’s Border Crisis

Governor Greg Abbott pointed out in his letter to Biden how the illegal immigration issue had been curbed significantly under the previous administration.

But something has changed in the last two years. What could it be?

“Under your watch, by contrast, America is suffering the worst illegal immigration in the history of our country,” Abbott insisted.

He also addressed the humanitarian and drug aspect of the crisis, saying the President’s open-border policies “have emboldened the cartels,” leading to an increase of fentanyl and human trafficking, oftentimes costing Texans their lives.

The White House has insisted time and again that, despite the overwhelming video evidence to the contrary, that illegal immigrants are “not just … walking across the border.”

An MSNBC report three weeks ago, however, documented numerous illegal aliens who said they “haven’t had any interaction with U.S. immigration authorities” and “they just walked right in.”

Is a Strongly-Worded Letter Going to Change Anything?

Similar to the bussing of illegal immigrants to sanctuary cities, I remain unconvinced that the ‘strongly-worded letter’ approach is going to do anything to convince Biden to fix the border crisis.

Sure, it’s great to draw attention to the matter, but it’s not as if all of America isn’t aware of the invasion at the Southern border at this point.

Instead of bussing them to other cities in America, maybe bus them right back over to Mexico.

Instead of handing the President a letter he either won’t or can’t read, maybe beef up the National Guard presence to protect the border.

Texas has the largest National Guard contingent in the country, at 21,000 soldiers. The point of the National Guard, of course, is to guard the nation.

Abbott did issue an executive order this past July authorizing the Texas National Guard and the Texas Department of Public Safety to apprehend aliens who illegally cross the border between ports of entry and return them to the border.

Politico reports that “State police and National Guard … have zero jurisdiction to enforce federal immigration policy” and it can only be done by “CBP (on the border) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (in the interior).”

Evidence of such a jurisdictional issue arose in August when video surfaced of Border Patrol agents opening a gate in Eagle Pass allowing dozens of illegal immigrants into the country after Texas National Guard officers had locked it shut.

Abbott called the video “unbelievable” and insisted “while Texas secures the border, the federal government is enabling illegal immigration.”

But is that really the case? With overwhelming numbers, the Texas National Guard could easily close the Texas border, and far outnumber the federal agents who very literally open the gates for illegal aliens.

What would the Border Patrol do? Open fire on American soldiers? Doubtful.

Speaking to reporters following Biden’s visit, the Republican governor said nothing would come of it “unless [the administration] begins to enforce the immigration laws already that exist in the United States of America.”

The lawlessness and chaos are the point. It’s intentional. It’s what helps Democrats stay in power.

And no letter is ever going to change that. Only power will.

Now is the time to support and share the sources you trust.

  • It will always pay to build whatever walls are needed on AMERICAN soil - that way we can sustainably claim the right to leave them standing. Lawyers are Americas' worst enemies when it comes to percieved "Rights". What about AMERICAs' RIGHTS to not be invaded ?

  • 'Instead of bussing them to other cities in America, maybe bus them right back over to Mexico.'
Exactly. Round them up like cattle and drive them back to the far side of the border.
"Head em up, Move em out, Rawhide".

  • There is nothing new. The illegal immigration is the direct result of the democratic party's need for more voters. The only aspect new is Xibiden is trying to figure out how he can use the border crises to help him get reelected. Or in other words what is the best lie to convince as any people as possible.

  • Mr. Weiss, what is YOUR problem? I believe that Gov. Abbott would do whatever he needed to do to stop illegals. What good is it when the feds just undo everything he does? Look at AZ.They build their own makeshift wall w/shipping containers. Re-use which is good for the environment (the containers are not in a landfull somewhere). According to Arizonans, that wall was working. Yet the Feds forced AZ to remove them.

You cannot point your finger at Abbott. He can do all in his power and the feds will just UN-DO it all. For some crazy reason they want these illegals. Damn the cartels, drugs, human trafficking. They want us to believe that all of these border-crossers are just pitiful poor victims "looking for a better life". What about OURS?

Sorry, I can't go along w/you on this.

  • Gov Abbot is doing something, he is finishing the wall but, needs help with that. He is sending illegal aliens that are crossing the border to the Sanctuary Cities. When people talk to the illegals, they tell you that their information is that the border is wide open, NOT CLOSED. Does anyone really expect one State Governor to fight the WEF, Soros, and the rest of the Deep State ALONE.

  • this man Biden is addicted to telling lies. Every thing coming out of his mouth is a lie. I think it's a sickness with him.
