Delaware Governor Just Embarrassed Himself Pandering To ‘Black Lives Matter’

Delaware Governor Jack Markell just signed a “resolution” to apologize for slavery over 150 years ago, as part of a Black History Month celebration. Apologize to who? The slaves are all dead by now. Black Americans living in the United States are far from slaves.

You can speak for yourself, Governor Jack Markell. Delaware, much like the American people, is not responsible for slavery. Are you apologizing for something you didn’t do? What an idiotic, politically-motivated thing to do. Shame on you Governor! Did you check with the citizens of Delaware first before you made an absolute fool and a laughing stock of your state?

From Fox News:

The signing took place at the Delaware Public Archives in Dover. The declaration coincided with the state’s celebration of Black History Month and an unveiling of an exhibit commemorating the 125th anniversary of Delaware State University, according to the News Journal.

“Today we affirm that we refuse to forget our past. We accept the responsibility of tearing down the barriers that face so many of our neighbors as a result of the abhorrent laws and practices carried out against African-Americans,” Markell said during the ceremony.

Delaware sided with the Union during the Civil War, but maintained the right to own slaves until the 13th Amendment was ratified in 1865. Delaware’s slave population was 8,887, according to the paper.

Delaware State University President Harry L. Williams praised the governor’s apology resolution Wednesday and said it can serve as a lesson for the rest of the nation.

“I am so excited that I’m alive to tell the story about how our state, the First State, made a statement and that statement was that we believe in justice and doing what is right,” Williams said.

Democratic state Rep. Stephanie T. Bolden appeared to be emotional as she stood beside Markell as he signed the resolution. She said she was proud that Delaware is taking a step to apologize for its role “in such an inhumane practice.”

You might want to apologize to the American people for violating the Constitution and centralizing wealth and power in the northeastern United States. Stop your pandering to the black community. If you feel so strongly, then give blacks your money out of your pocket.

  • Did the blacks ever thanks all the white Americans that fought and died freeing them. They didn't free themselve, I thought only the Southern States had slavery and only something like 5% of whites kept slaves black people also kept black slaves. Any Black person not happy in the US is free to leave and go to Africa I don't think they'll get much of a welcome though.
