Corey Lewandowski is under fire for comments he made on Fox News yesterday. It came during a heated discussion where Lewandowski defended the Trump administration’s “zero tolerance” policy at the border.

“I read today about a 10-year-old girl with Down syndrome who was taken from her mother and put in a cage…” Democratic strategist Zac Petkanas began to say, before being interrupted by Lewandowski, who said “Womp, womp.”

The comment obviously was insensitive, but Lewandowski clarified he wasn’t mocking the child’s separation, but that liberals are politicizing children.

Of course, given that the political issue at hand relates to children, it wasn’t irrational at all for Petkansas to politicize children. But it was completely irrational to politicize children to make an attack against President Donald Trump – whose administration has absolutely nothing to do with this particular separation. In fact, thanks to the actions of those in law enforcement, they could have saved this child’s life.

According to a statement from U.S. Customers and Border Protection, “U.S. Customs and Border Protection separated a child with Down Syndrome from her mother as a result of a smuggling attempt on June 3, 2018. This, however, was not a result of zero tolerance as the mother is not being prosecuted, rather being held as a witness in the smuggling incident. The mother and her five children were in a vehicle driven by a U.S. citizen. Upon questioning, the mother admitted to being illegally in the United States. Three of the children are U.S. citizens and were released to an aunt. The mother was not prosecuted, but is instead being held as a material witness to support the prosecution of the smuggler, which precipitated the separation of the two other children, both Mexican citizens.”

Border Patrol also noted in their statement that the smuggler in question has a long criminal history “including a flight, escape, and aiding and abetting” in crimes. Clearly, Mexico isn’t sending their best.

Of course, the liberal media rushed to attack Lewandowski without knowing the facts of the case:

President Trump is tired of this ongoing situation and has announced plans to end the separation of children from their families when they come across the border illegally. (RELATED: President Trump Considering Executive Action to End Family Breakup of Illegal Immigrants).

While Lewandowski’s comments may have gone too far, the left eagerly exploited his comments, just to push their political agenda.
