Christian Pop Star Justin Bieber Hit With Backlash After Supporting Israel

The devoutly Christian pop star Justin Bieber is being hit with backlash on social media after posting his support for Israel.

Bieber Hit With Backlash Over Israel Post

The Independent reported that Bieber, 29, took to his Instagram Story on Wednesday to post the words “Praying for Israel” over an image of buildings in the Gaza Strip that had been destroyed after Israel retaliated for the Hamas terrorist attacks that were launched on Saturday. Within an hour, Bieber deleted the post and replaced it with just the words “Praying for Israel” with no background image.

The damage, however, was already done, as social media users were quick to slam Bieber for the post.

Bieber had previously said that he would not be picking sides in the Israeli/Palestinian conflict.

“To vilianize [sic] all Palestinians or all Israeli people to me seems wrong,” Bieber wrote on his Instagram Story. “I’m not interested in choosing sides, but I am interested in standing with the families who have been brutally taken from us.”

We’re the first people to call out virtue-signaling celebrities when they make ignorant mistakes as they desperately try to hop on the latest social media trends for clout, so we can’t give Bieber a full pass on this one. He definitely should have done his research before he posted about this issue, as if he had, he would never have been hit with this kind of backlash.

That being said, given the fact that Bieber is a devout Christian, we also believe that his heart was likely in the right place. Over the past few years, Bieber has gone above and beyond to help his fans, many of whom are young people, find God just as he has.

Bieber’s Christian Faith

After falling victim to the temptations of drugs and alcohol, as many in the music world do, Bieber credits finding God with saving him.

“I really took a deep dive in my faith,” Bieber explained in a 2020 interview, according to Fox News. “I believed in Jesus but I never really, like…when it says following Jesus is actually turning away from sin, and so there’s no, it talks about it in the Bible, there’s no faith without obedience.”

In the years since then, Bieber has worked hard on his relationship with God.

“The way I look at God and my relationship with Jesus is I’m not trying to earn God’s love by doing good things,” he explained. “God has already loved me for who I am before I did anything to earn or deserve it. It’s a free gift by accepting Jesus, giving your life to him, and what he did is the gift. The forgiveness is the thing that we look at and we go, you know, I’m going to worship you, God, because you gave me something so good.”

Bieber Leads Fans In Prayer

Last year, Bieber stopped one of his concerts to lead tens of thousands of his fans in prayer.

“God, I pray right now for every fear, every insecurity, every bad thought we have about ourselves or someone else; we just release that right now in the name of Jesus,” he said. “We release our selfish ways and know that you happily take them, Jesus. We thank you God that you are here.”

“Thank you that you love us, thank you that you are for us, thank you that you are proud of us,” Bieber continued. “We welcome your Spirit into this place … you told us that you’ll never leave us, you’ll never forsake us.”

“I pray against any tormenting thought, any insecure thought, we just give it to You, in Jesus’ name,” he concluded. “You know the darkest, most shameful things in our heart, and You accept us and call us Yours. We are Your children, and You are well pleased. You’re so big, You’re so powerful, we trust You.”

Yes, Bieber should have researched his photo before posting it, but perhaps Christians at least should cut him a bit of slack on this one. In the end, Bieber likely only wants peace so that he can continue spreading the word of God to as many people around the globe as possible.

  1. We fully support Israel – Hamas are immoral terrorists and caused this entire problem. It is a shame that the Palestinians ever chose Hamas to be their “leaders” and to allow Hamas to attack Israel. Perhaps the Palestinians will realize their errors in judgment and remove Hamas permanently.

  2. Awe, did they get their feelings hurt again, poor babies. Way to go Justin, keep telling the truth and not supporting the killers from hamas who kill innocents, cut the heads off of babies, shoot 1000’s of rockets into innocents on a regular basis for years, and yet they blame Israel. You notice I didn’t say killers from palestine, just their leaders – hamas.
