The transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney, whose partnership with Bud Light has cost the company hundreds of millions of dollars this year, has just been named Woman Of The Year at the 2023 Virgin Atlantic Attitude Awards.

Mulvaney Wins ‘Woman Of The Year’

Attitude reported that Mulvaney, 26, was named the first ever Woman Of The Year supported by Virgin Atlantic at the Virgin Atlantic Attitude Awards in the United Kingdom on Wednesday. Mulvaney was handed this honor by the singer Paloma Long, who gushed over Muvlaney as she presented the award.

“When I think about our next winner and what the transphobic press and social media trolls have put her through this year – for what, because of the social posts for Bud Light, because of the TikTok video for Nike?” Long said. “My blood boils.”

“I will stand up in defence of the likes of her and all trans people, all gender-diverse people, and all marginalised people and human beings for the basic right to exist just as you were born to be, whatever your choice is, to my dying day,” she added.

Mulvaney’s Emotional Speech

Mulvaney then took the stage to deliver an emotional acceptance speech.

“No matter how hard I try, or what I wear, or what surgeries I have, I will never reach an acceptable version of womanhood by those hateful people’s standards,” Mulvaney said. “But as long as the queer community sees me for my truth, I’m going to be OK.”

Mulvaney described the U.K. as her personal “safe space,” something that she learned when she traveled to London this summer for a vacation “after months of feeling isolated.”

“When I arrived, I didn’t feel the baggage that I was carrying back at home in the US. I didn’t feel like the ‘trans beer girl‘,” Mulvaney explained. “I didn’t walk into rooms here and wonder, ‘Oh, does that person hate me just for being who I am?’ I was just another gal walking around in a Burberry trench on my way to see a West End musical.”

Mulvaney didn’t hesitate to take some shots at the U.K., however, as she also claimed that the country is not woke enough when it comes to trans rights.

“As dangerous as it is for trans people here, like the hate spewed last week, maybe it’s less about where we are and more about who we’re with,” Mulvaney said. “And that if I’m surrounded by people like you, that this still CAN be one of my safe spaces.”

Mulvaney concluded by saying that she’s proud to be “receiving this honor from a queer publication like Attitude”.

“I am equally grateful that this title is coming from an international publication, and not just because I am deeply attracted to your accents, which I am,” Mulvaney said.

Mulvaney’s Bud Light Debacle

Bud Light’s parent company Anheuser-Busch InBev has lost nearly $40 billion in value since Bud Light teamed up with Mulvaney for a partnership back in April. The company reported a 10.5% drop in revenue and a nearly 30% plunge in core profit in the U.S. during the second quarter, according to The New York Post.

Bud Light sales are still down 30 percent, with one expert saying that drinkers are “just lost forever.”

“The Bud Light situation has actually gotten worse,” Beer Business Daily publisher Harry Schuhmacher told Fox News last month. “You see Bud Light still just stubbornly down around 30% in volume compared to last year, which is where it’s been since May or June. That tells me that this is quasi-permanent, meaning those consumers are just lost forever.”

“Bud Light’s latest week trends — down 26.9% in dollars and down 30.3% in volume — are nearly identical to its four-week trends,” he continued, going on to say that Bud Light is likely to see similar year-over-year declines for the “foreseeable future,” or “at least until April and May of 2024 when they lap the controversy.”

It’s unfortunate that we’re living in a time when biological women are virtually being erased, and someone like Mulvaney is being handed “Woman Of The Year” awards. Perhaps Virgin Atlantic will ended up learning the same lesson that Bud Light did: go woke, go broke!
