Watch CNN’s Keilar Stick To Dem Talking Point On CRT As Republican Scott Leaves Her Speechless

On Monday, CNN’s Brianna Keilar kept repeating the talking point that critical race theory is not actually being taught in schools as her guest, Republican Sen. Rick Scott of Florida, left her almost speechless.

The exchange took place on CNN’s “New Day” program.

Scott: ‘The Virginia Department of Education promoted critical race theory and the idea of white fragility’

As Keilar spoke with Scott, who also is the chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, on Monday, the pair delved into Virginia Governor-elect Glenn Youngkin’s victory over Democrat Terry McAuliffe in early November.

It was brought up that the race could become the Republicans’ “playbook” for the midterm elections.

Scott said that Youngkin’s opposition to critical race theory could be part of a winning strategy for Republicans.

“Glenn Youngkin won his race because he talked about issues,” Scott said. “Parents know their kids are being indoctrinated with critical race theory in Virginia, and the Democrats wanted to deny it.”

This is when it got interesting.

Keilar interrupted Scott to say, “Well, it’s not in the curriculum.” In fact, Keilar would keep repeating what she obviously believed to be an obvious fact over and over.

Scott looked shocked. He then began reading a report about critical race theory being in Virginia schools, including a quote from Virginia’s Department of Education.

“In 2015, while Terry McAuliffe was governor, the Virginia Department of Education promoted incorporating a critical race theory lens in education. You can still find it on the Department of Education’s website, it’s still there,” Scott read.

“In 2019, a superintendent memo for the Virginia Department of Education promoted critical race theory and the idea of white fragility,” Scott added.

Keilar: It’s ‘not in the curriculum’

Keilar kept saying some version of it “is not in the curriculum” in Virginia repeatedly, while looking down, presumably at notes.

Scott shot back, “I looked at it yesterday! It’s still there, Brianna.”

“Brianna, wait a minute. Let’s all agree: They were trying to indoctrinate kids, Terry McAuliffe denied it, it’s still on the website,” the senator insisted.

“This is happening,” with no verbal reply from Keilar.

The official conclusion of the media is that critical race theory is not being taught – despite the Superintendent of Public Instruction recommending “White Fragility,” “For White Folks That Teach in the Hood… and the Rest of Ya’ll Too: Reality Pedagogy and Urban Education (Race, Education and Democracy),” and “Foundations of Critical Race Theory in Education” as ‘resources to support student and community dialogues on racism’ in a February 22, 2019 memo.

Virginia parents, like Senator Rick Scott, aren’t buying the denials.
