An MSNBC reporter, conducting a type of ‘man on the street’ interview at a local gas station, got an honest and succinct answer when he asked a random customer about who is responsible for high gas prices and if it would affect their vote come election day.
A Miami father of five was filling up his vehicle when he was queried by reporter Sam Brock for “Katy Tur Reports” about the cost and repercussions of skyrocketing gas prices.
“I’m sure it hurts other people’s pockets more than others. For mine, we adjusted,” William Hurtabo said.
When asked if he could pinpoint blame, the man didn’t hold back.
“I don’t like to get political but I would say, you know, it starts from the top, the president,” Hurtabo explained.

Biden to Blame for High Gas Prices
As the segment progressed, the father who blames President Biden for having to tighten his budget just to afford gas summarized perfectly what voters will be thinking when they hit the ballot box this coming election and beyond.
“Two-prong question,” Brock wondered. “The fact that we are seeing gas prices impact people’s pocketbooks so much right now, would that change how you’re considering voting for the next election, congressional later this year or presidential a couple years down the road?”
“Definitely,” the man replied. “One administration had cheaper gas and this administration has more expensive gas.”
If Republicans aren’t already producing political ads with this line featured in them, they need to do so immediately.

Biden Passed the Buck
President Biden might not think he’s responsible for the high gas prices, but obviously, people on the street disagree.
The President once promised the American people that, if elected, he would “take responsibility instead of blaming others.”
His track record indicates otherwise.

On gas prices a few months ago Biden said: “It’s going to go up. Can’t do much right now. Russia is responsible.”
He was right about it going up. But was Russia “responsible”?

The media have mostly agreed that nearly every crisis that has befallen the American people during the Biden administration is not the fault of the guy at the top.
CNN White House correspondent John Harwood argued, like Biden, that there isn’t much the President can do about high gas prices.
“There’s just not much President Joe Biden can do about it,” he wrote.

The Washington Post once argued that Americans need to lower their expectations in the Biden era.
“American consumers, their expectations pampered and catered to for decades, are not accustomed to inconvenience,” a column states.
“Pay more, get less, and STFU about it” seems like a questionable mantra going into the midterms, no? https://t.co/u9NTfiq9iO

So it must have been quite a shock for a reporter at MSNBC to get slapped into reality by at least one voter who thinks high gas prices are Joe Biden’s fault and they’ll vote accordingly because of it knowing things were so much better under Donald Trump.
“One administration had cheaper gas and this administration has more expensive gas.”
