In a truly emotional tribute, Army veteran Matthew Whalen, who had suffered a massive, irreversible stroke over the weekend, was wheeled through a Texas hospital while fellow soldiers stood at attention as a sign of respect before his last moments.

Having been an American hero as a four-time combat veteran, Whalen proved to be a hero in his last moments as well.

The Army veteran donated organs that would help save the lives of two other veterans.

Family and friends honored a 35-year-old Army veteran on Monday during his final moments as he was wheeled through the halls of a Texas hospital to donate his organs.

Family members said Staff Sgt. Matthew James Whalen was diagnosed on Saturday with a brain hemorrhage. Sadly, he did not recover.

On Monday, Whalen’s family made the decision to withdraw life support and his organs were donated to two veterans.

A video posted to Facebook showed Whalen’s final moments and can be seen below.  Warning – The video is truly emotional, so be prepared to shed some tears.
