As you’ve probably already heard, World Series MVP pitcher and former ESPN baseball analyst Curt Schilling was fired from ESPN for the simple act of posting a meme critical of liberals for wanting to allow men in women’s bathrooms.
Schilling posted the meme to Facebook, seen below and accompanied by the following commentary:

“A man is a man no matter what they call themselves. I don’t care what they are, who they sleep with, men’s room was designed for the penis , women’s not so much. Now you need laws telling us differently? Pathetic.”
ESPN’s dismissal of Schilling is one in a long line of attempts to squash conservative opinions at the increasingly liberal network.
Hall of Fame football coach and Chicago legend Mike Ditka was removed from his show after calling Barack Obama the “worst President.” And Schilling himself was previously suspended for a tweet about radical Islamic terrorists that was dubbed ‘insensitive.’
Two prominent conservative politicians are coming to Schilling’s defense this time, and they’re calling out ESPN for their intolerance of dissenting viewpoints.
Former vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin blasted the sports network, claiming “ESPN continues to screw up” and linking to an article on the firing.
Even current presidential candidate Ted Cruz has jumped into the fray, forcefully criticizing the network for releasing Schilling for nothing more than “making the rather obvious point that we shouldn’t allow grown male adult strangers alone in a bathroom with little girls.”

ESPN terminated Curt Schilling from the company for making an “obvious point” that grown male adult strangers should not be allowed to use the same bathroom as little girls, Ted Cruz said Thursday.
“ESPN fired Curt Schilling for making the rather obvious point that we shouldn’t allow grown male adult strangers alone in a bathroom with little girls,” the Texas senator said in a 14-minute interview on the radio show of surrogate Glenn Beck, in which he discussed North Carolina’s recent ban on transgender people from using facilities other than the ones corresponding to their gender at birth. “That’s a point anyone who is rational should understand.”
Cruz’ statement stands in stark contrast to Republican frontrunner Donald Trump’s comments.
While Schilling was employed by ESPN and is thus subject to their rules of conduct, the fact remains that he was not fired for failing to do his job. He was fired because he held the wrong opinions. If any employer can engage in such activity, nobody’s job would be safe.
Schilling joked on a filing about a campaign contribution to Dr. Ben Carson in September that his current place of employment was “ESPN (NOT SURE HOW MUCH LONGER).”
Even then, he seemed well aware that his conservative leanings were frowned upon by the network.
