On Sunday, White House adviser Peter Navarro torched Barack Obama after the former president criticized the Trump administration for supposedly flubbing the COVID-19 crisis response.

Navarro blasted Obama during an appearance on ABC News’ “This Week” with George Stephanopoulos, telling the host that Obama is now simply a member of presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden’s campaign press team.

On Saturday, Obama said during his virtual Harvard commencement speech that the pandemic revealed an incompetent federal response by government officials.

“More than anything, this pandemic has fully, finally torn back the curtain on the idea that so many of the folks in charge know what they’re doing,” Obama said without saying President Donald Trump’s name. “A lot of them aren’t even pretending to be in charge.”

Obama’s commencement speech came in the wake of a leaked call to the media, in which he was heard slamming the Trump administration’s response to the pandemic. Obama reportedly called the federal response to coronavirus an “absolute chaotic disaster” and argued that the 2020 presidential election was a battle against “being selfish, being tribal, being divided.”

President Trump was also asked about Obama’s Saturday comments about his handling of the coronavirus crisis outside the White House on Sunday.

Trump said Obama was “grossly incompetent” as president.
