Congress Has Approved the Wall Trump Wants to Build in 2006- Construction Could Begin NOW!

With so many goals of President-elect Donald Trump’s administration during his first 100 days, it’s clear that immigration and border security is the top priority.

But what you may not know is- Congress has already approved Trump’s wall along the Mexican border. In fact, it has been part of Federal law since 2006.

Part of the Secure Fence Act, the bill gives the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary the discretion to make changes to the fence. It was introduced by Rep. Peter King (R-NY) and passed with a bi-partisan vote of 283-138 on September 14, 2006 and was later approved by the U.S. Senate on September 29.

This means Trump could start construction of the wall immediately, and pro-Amnesty Democrats in Congress couldn’t stop him. This is amazing:

The law states in part:
Not later than 18 months after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Homeland Security shall take all actions the Secretary determines necessary and appropriate to achieve and maintain operational control over the entire international land and maritime borders of the United States, to include the following–
(1) systematic surveillance of the international land and maritime borders of the United States through more effective use of personnel and technology, such as unmanned aerial vehicles, ground-based sensors, satellites, radar coverage, and cameras; and (2) physical infrastructure enhancements to prevent unlawful entry by aliens into the United States and facilitate access to the international land and maritime borders by United States Customs and Border Protection, such as additional checkpoints, all-weather access roads, and vehicle barriers. (b) Operational Control Defined.–In this section, the term “operational control” means the prevention of all unlawful entries into the United States, including entries by terrorists, other unlawful aliens, instruments of terrorism, narcotics, and other contraband.

The main goal of the Secure Fence Act of 2006 was to help secure America’s borders to decrease illegal entry, drug trafficking, and security threats by building 700 miles (1,100 km) of physical barriers along the Mexico-United States border. Later on in the bill it specifies what was supposed to be built was a double-layered fence with barbed-wire on top, and room for a security vehicle to patrol between the layers. Not bad right?

Of the almost 700 miles of fencing specified in the bill only 36.3 miles of double-layered fencing, as the bill required has been built Most of the 36+ miles of fencing were built during the Bush Administration.

President Barack Obama has created our immigration crisis by not enforcing current laws. Now, millions of illegal aliens are in America and they pose a risk to our jobs and safety.

Here is a drawing of what the fence is supposed to look like:

Obama used the rules set forth in the law to reduce the size of the double-layered fencing that was required. But that same flexibility will allow Trump to build and upgrade the wall as much as he wants it.

A nation can not be safe and secure without proper law enforcement at the border. Trump has the authority to build the wall, and it’s time to start it!

What do you think about Congress approving Trump’s wall in 2006? Please leave us a comment (below) and tell us.

  1. The only problem I see is the Republican majority congress still must approve the funding and if the Democrats try to filibuster the bill I hope the Republicans will use Harry Reid’s Nuclear Option that the Democrats used to ram the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) through without a single Republican vote in favor of it. I’d call that sweet karma!

  2. Of course, why would any of Trump’s followers actually expect him to deliver on what he says? It is all about emotion and feeling. Nothing about facts or reality.
Read George Orwell’s “1984” and get used to four years of thought-speak.

  3. The wall sounded good for the campaign but it is an inferior barrier. The double fence is much more effective. A wall would block the view so border patrol could not see people coming or attacking the wall. The double ditch, fence with a paved road and electronic sensors is not only more effective but much more cost effective. We have years of experience with the different barriers and short of putting automatic machine guns along the road that shoots everything that moves like they did in Berlin the double fence is a very good starting point. Other systems can be added later if required.

  4. Wall or no wall…we must protect our borders by any means possible. We must ensure that each and every person that is in our country is legitimate and are ,who they say they are. This will take a lot of work and manpower but it must be done. The soon to be former administration should be charged with treason for interfering with the U.S. Border Patrol and their duties. Issuing stand down orders to our Border Patrol should be a hanging offense within itself, who in their right mind would do such a thing ? Blatant disregard for the security and well being of American citizens.Illegals that have been in our country more then 7 years, married to a U.S. citizen and has not been committed of any crimes and has never left the U.S. should be looked at on an individual basis, using all available resources to consider him or her for citizenship.

  5. “It’s $8 billion.… And of the 2,000 [miles], we don’t need 2,000, we need 1,000 because we have natural barriers, et cetera, et cetera, and I’m taking it price per square foot and a price per square, you know, per mile, and it’s a very simple calculation. I’m talking about precasts going up probably 35 to 40 feet up in the air. That’s high; that’s a real wall. It will actually look good. It’ll look, you know, as good as a wall is going to look.” (Trump)

First, your drawing isn’t what Trump promised for the fence. But that reality doesn’t bother you.
Second, like other Trump projects, he will build the fence using Chinese steel, foreign labor, and borrowed money with the promise that vendors and investors will get paid someday, and then stiff them when Mexico refuses to pay.
Third, he will put his name on the wall to “improve the value of his brand”.

Did you notice that Trump dropped the “Make America Great Again” slogan as soon as the election ended? It’s called “bait and switch” and I guess he isn’t going to deliver on that promise either.

  6. Robert, sad to say that the administration prior to bambam was just as complacent in ignoring the laws on immigration. Bush wanted the borders gone as well. I fully remember fighting him and John Cornyn and Kay Bailey-Hutchison for a solid eight years on this issue. At least Hutchison DID try to get chain migration stopped immediately – it failed. So THIS is what we need to shoot for now – STOP CHAIN MIGRATION IMMEDIATELY!

  7. +Robert, You hit the nail on the head. Obumma did “all of this” to Americans, and his kind (terrorist lover) will do it all again once given the chance. KEEP THEM OUT.

  8. You see,THIS IS THE PROBLEM ! All laws regarding illegal immigration and building walls are already IN PLACE, and some have been in place for 50 years, but the lawless Obama Administration was in “Stand Down” mode on all of them !

  9. That’s called poetic justice!! HUGE, break for incoming POTUS as he will not need anything from congress which is a good thing. Still too many RINOS.

  10. Most of what President-elect Trump wants to accomplish only requires enforcing existing law. Aside from restructuring health insurance his goals can be met by placing people in positions who will actually enforce existing law.

  13. Carol; It was referring to the year the WALL was approved! In 2006! While Bush (GW) was in our White House! When the “Illustrious Illegal” was bought in, he refused to BUILD the wall and just ignred the approval! The more OTHER illegals came in the more votes for the DNC! Worked out REAL well for the ones he sold us OUT to! And the ones who have been in charge of our Country since he was sworn in! The SECOND time! He flubbed the first one! Couldn’t remember his “lines”! First time THAT happened in our entire history as a republic!
