Donald Trump Explains Why Rod Rosenstein Belongs ‘Behind Bars’

After sharing a viral image on Twitter depicting his political opponents in jail, President Donald Trump went on to justify his opinion that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein belongs behind bars.

The meme seen across the world

Rosenstein, as the Deputy AG, oversaw the Russia collusion investigation led by Special Counsel Robert Mueller. Since Jeff Sessions was fired, and Matthew Whitaker has taken over the role of acting AG, Rosenstein is no longer overseeing it. However, Trump hasn’t forgotten about what Rosenstein did in hiring Mueller in the first place, which has been a black shroud on his presidency ever since. But when Trump retweeted the image below on Twitter, Rosenstein’s inclusion caught many by surprise because of the obvious fact that Rosenstein is Trump’s employee.

Upon seeing the meme, the media devolved into a sputtering rhapsody of disgust and disbelief. They couldn’t begin to understand why the President would share such a provocative picture. Of course, the same journalists feigning outrage are also quick to gossip about Trump himself being thrown behind bars for yet-to-be-proven collusion.

Why Trump wants Rosenstein behind bars

Still, Rosenstein’s addition within the meme and Trump’s willingness to share it is a curious thing. That’s why reporters from the New York Post asked the President directly about it.

From the report:

It was no accident that President Trump Wednesday retweeted an image of Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein locked up.

When asked during an interview with The Post: “Why do you think he belongs behind bars?” Trump responded: “He should have never picked a Special Counsel.”

It’s hard to be more blunt than that!

Other reasons Rosenstein should be prosecuted

Hiring Mueller was one offense. But Rosenstein has deliberately stonewalled congressional Republicans and refused to turn over documents about the Obama administration’s spying on the Trump campaign. His stonewalling has generated calls for resignation from Trump’s allies in Congress. (RELATED: House Freedom Caucus To Rosenstein: Testify Or Resign.)

Rosenstein also reportedly suggested wearing a wire to spy on Trump in the Oval Office, and even forming a band of conspirators to take down Trump via the 25th Amendment. (RELATED: Goodlatte May Subpoena Deputy AG Rosenstein Over 25th Amendment Comments.)

Trump clearly doesn’t like Rosenstein. And Rosenstein hasn’t exactly given him a reason to over the last two years.

  1. In a democracy, people go to jail for breaking the law. In a dictatorship they go to jail for making the President mad.

It may be time to decide what country Trump thinks he is running. And what ever happened to your pledge to defend the Constitution.

  2. President Trump could have fired Rosenstein when he fired Sessions, but he didn’t. Why? Was it because the Democrats would claim there was a constitutional crisis? Or was it because the timing was not quite right? At some time in the future, Rosenstein and Mueller must be fired; and the sooner, the better. Everyone knows for a Special Counsel to be appointed, there must be a crime. Where is the crime in Russian Collusion? None because collusion is not a crime. The crime in all this is the Obama Administration spying on President Trumps’s campaign. He, (Obama) weaponized the Intelligence agencies to spy on an American citizen and told lies to get the FISA court’s approval. Remember, Mueller is tied up in the Uranium One fiasco; so is Hillary. When President trump gets a permanent Attorney General, a new Special Counsel must be appointed to investigate all the crimes of Obama, the Intelligence Agencies, Mueller, Rosenstein, Comey, McCabe, and Hillary Clinton.

  3. rosenstein should have been terminated, along with every other obama holdover, Jan 21, 2017. Letting these people stay on caused not so subtle roadblocks to President Trump’s policies. Arrest both clintons right now, indict them and all their crony’s, Let them have a jury trial and give all of the guilty ones the severest sentence allowed by law. Declassify every fisa document associated with mullers investigation?. rosenstein is coordinating this witch hunt.

  4. So, arrest and try the “rosy jack wagon”, then lock him up, OR execute him, just as we should anyone else who is guilty of TREASON against the USA and a “duly elected” President.

  5. Congress is not running out of time. The House, which is a simple majority of democrats starting in 2019, really has no meaningful power to do much of anything. They have no power over the executive branch, including the DOJ and FBI. They have no power over the Judicial Branch or any say over federal judges including the SCOTUS. They can pass as many bills as their little heart’s desire. But the Senate has the final say and then the President has the ultimate say with his veto power. The House can do investigations. But where did that get Republicans for 6 years? They can’t force people to answer questions or to even show up. I guess they can try to impeach the President. However, that is not as easy as would seem. You really have to have a lawful reason for doing so and that case has to be made with the cooperation of various entities in the House. So, the House will have very little effect on much of anything over the next two years.

  6. When do the indictments begin. Congress you’re running out of time! Declassify & release the FISA documents! Let the world see how corrupt the dims, FBI heads and DOJ were!

  7. What limits did Rosenstein put on the inquisition? Was it Russian collusion, perjury, association with Trump, etc.? What crime was to be investigated? Collusion is not a crime.

  8. Rotenstein does belong in jail, period. A reasonable question in my mind is with all of the fluff the democrats have made over everything Trump, why isn’t anyone of the people shown behind bars in the presidential tweet currently under some type of investigation?
