Another day, another Donald Trump feud.
Today’s victim? Connecticut Sen. Richard Blumenthal. It all began when Blumenthal appeared on CNN to voice support for continuing the investigation into alleged Russian meddling in last year’s election. He also expressed concern about the DOJ’s increased focus on cracking down on White House leakers (a position we guarantee he wouldn’t be taking had this been happening under Obama).
Then came the tweets.
Interesting to watch Senator Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut talking about hoax Russian collusion when he was a phony Vietnam con artist!

Never in U.S.history has anyone lied or defrauded voters like Senator Richard Blumenthal. He told stories about his Vietnam battles and….

…conquests, how brave he was, and it was all a lie. He cried like a baby and begged for forgiveness like a child. Now he judges collusion?

It was hard not to do a spit-take when reading NBC’s headline fact-checking the serious of tweets.
Of all sources, it was actually the New York Times that exposed Blumenthal’s lies back in 2010. Here’s an excerpt from that article:
At a ceremony honoring veterans and senior citizens who sent presents to soldiers overseas, Attorney General Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut rose and spoke of an earlier time in his life.
“We have learned something important since the days that I served in Vietnam,” Mr. Blumenthal said to the group gathered in Norwalk in March 2008. “And you exemplify it. Whatever we think about the war, whatever we call it — Afghanistan or Iraq — we owe our military men and women unconditional support.”
There was one problem: Mr. Blumenthal, a Democrat now running for the United States Senate, never served in Vietnam. He obtained at least five military deferments from 1965 to 1970 and took repeated steps that enabled him to avoid going to war, according to records.
The deferments allowed Mr. Blumenthal to complete his studies at Harvard; pursue a graduate fellowship in England; serve as a special assistant to The Washington Post’s publisher, Katharine Graham; and ultimately take a job in the Nixon White House.
You’d think he would’ve at least tried to come up with a more believable story – perhaps by claiming that he landed under sniper fire with Hillary Clinton or something….
But seriously, NBC tried to seriously criticize Trump for claiming that Blumenthal cried, while overshadowing the fact that he lied about serving his country?
Clearly, we know where the media’s priorities lie. They don’t lie with our men and women who actually served in combat. And they don’t lie with the truth.
