These Senators Take a BOLD Stand Against Planned Parenthood’s Peddling of Abortions

The Ohio Senate overwhelmingly voted in favor of defunding Planned Parenthood. Senate Bill 214 passed along party lines by a vote of 23-10. It now heads to the Ohio House of Representatives.

This bill would redirect $1.3 million from Planned Parenthood to federally qualified health centers where women can still get care without having abortion services peddled to help increase the center’s bottom line.

The videos exposing Planned Parenthood’s selling of baby parts helped propel state legislators to revoke funding for the abortion giant. Cleveland.com reported that Senate President Keith Faber attributed the fast response to this bill to the undercover videos from the Center for Medical Progress.

“This bill is not about women’s health care,” Faber said after the vote. “It’s about whether we’re going to fund an organization that has its senior leadership nationally, who by the way get money from Ohio, who believe it’s good public policy to chop up babies in a way it makes their parts more valuable so they can buy a Lamborghini.”

Republicans dominate Ohio government. They control both houses of the legislature, the Supreme Court and Republican presidential candidate John Kasich is the governor. Planned Parenthood should have been defunded at the state level years ago.

Politically speaking, Kasich would be wise to quickly sign this bill when it reaches his desk. His record with defunding Planned Parenthood lags behind the other governor’s in the Republican primary.

Defunding Planned Parenthood could help Kasich’s failing campaign and would certainly gain him the earned media he desperately needs. Expect that this becomes a priority.
