Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) shut down a reporter from The Washington Post who shamelessly tried to use the coronavirus to attack President Donald Trump on Saturday.
Washington Post “fact-checker” Glenn Kessler took to Twitter yesterday to say that Trump’s pronouncement of record-low unemployment during his State of the Union address back in February “did not age well.”
“Line from Trump’s State of the Union address that did not age well: ‘Incredibly, the average unemployment rate under my administration is lower than any administration in the history of our country,'” Kessler tweeted.

Kessler appeared to be suggesting that it’s Trump’s fault that unemployment claims have surpassed 10 million over the past two weeks, when in reality, everyone knows that this only happened because of the coronavirus pandemic that has brought the entire world to it’s knees.
Senator Cruz fired back by pointing out that Trump broke numerous economic records, and that we are only in the current situation we are in because of COVID-19. “The press HATED that, three months ago, we had the lowest African-American & Hispanic unemployment ever recorded. Now that we’re in the midst of a global pandemic—which originated in Wuhan, not the Oval Office—too many in the press are giddy with glee,” Cruz tweeted.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that the unemployment rate dropped to 3.5% last September, which is the lowest it had been since 1969 under the presidency of Richard Nixon.
In the weeks since the coronavirus shut down our country, members of the mainstream media have shown time and again that they would rather see our country fail than see Trump succeed. The glee with which they have watched our economy plummet due to the virus is truly despicable, as all they see is another weapon they can use against Trump.
Members of the mainstream media don’t seem to realize that their obsessive hatred for Trump is only helping him in the long run. Most Americans see right through what the media is trying to do to him, and their witch hunt against the president is only emboldening the rest of us even more to vote for him in November.
